I dropped Melissa (my 17 yr old) off this morning for her second SAT testing. Poor kid :( I remember taking them and hated them. She got her scores from her first testing in the mail today.

Her
Critical Reading Score is 520 (490 - 550)
Math 530 (500 - 560)
Writing 450 (410-490)

Pretty good I think. We'll see how she does after today. FUN FUN FUN! She's taking another test at the end of January for Literature and Math to higher her GPA.

Thanks you two! I'm clueless when it comes to SAT scoring. And Melissa being the perfectionist that she is; wasn't overly excited about them. She said that when she does the second testing, she won't answer the questions that she's unsure about because I guess you get minus a point if you answer and get it wrong whereas, if you don't answer, no points either way? I'm just so glad she's way more organized than I am! lol We are very proud of her :D

She's home now and went straight to bed for a nap. All she said was the test was LONG!

you know i just realized that the SATs changed this past year -- used to be out of 1600, but now apparently its a 2400 score, since there are now THREE graded sections!

hope your daughter did well- i remember having to take all those tests in the past 10 years, and its fresh since i just took boards :)

I took them when I was 14 - and they WERE long! They didn't give us our scores in numbers, just the percentiles.

Melissa did really well on them, and she's got the right idea about re-taking and not guessing. That girl's got a real plan :D

Kim - well I guess that's why she wasn't too excited about her first scores. She really wants to higher her critical reading this time around.

Renee - Like I said, thank goodness she has a handle on all this stuff! lol

That's great avenlee. I also didn't get my scores in numbers, and I'm only 2 years older than her. I got mine in percentiles. But, I took my SAT when I was 12 or 13. Somewhere in there.
Tell her congratulations. :)

Luckily I didn't have those in the iron age.....I freeze under pressure. It was bad enough in Quebec when our finals were the same test province wide. Mine was a very small school and I know we didn't have the best teachers. There were only about 8 to 10 in my High School classes .... tests were taken in the gym for a week...we didn't know whether it was pass or fail until we saw it in the paper. I'd go to the railroad station and get papers from Montreal until the results came in....maybe that's why I grayed early.! How is it done in Canada today ??? This was in late '40s. I always passed, but the pressure!!! We had about 2 weeks from end of classes until the tests which covered all courses. ( about 10 ) from freshmen on.

Thanks everyone! The results did report in percentages also. I think with all three areas, she averaged around 53%. So, there is room for some improvement there.
