Hello friends,

Im a longtime Saluki owner enjoying a new beautiful desert bred bitch 5 months old, and by accident I also ended up with a Rottweiler at the same time who is also 5 months old. Both dogs are great but so different. The amazing thing is that they love each other and the Rott is very gentle with her although she pushes him quite a bit...

I am happy to answer Saluki/sighthound and coursing questions and hope to get help on the Rottweiler. Take a look at the pics and tell me how close the Rott is to the standard.

Regards

Awww, your Saluki is gorgeous. I feel like most of the ones I see have "feathers" - do they come in smooth? I actually like the look of yours better! I have a major sighthound obsession I really love the Ibizan's. I would love to pick your brain about sighthounds in general at some point. I love the look and indoor temperment so much, but don't have a ton of experience with them.

Do you do any other sports with yours besides the lure coursing?

Your Rottie is BEAUTIFUL!!! :D Although I cannot help about if he is up to standered though...but I know that some other people will!

But you might need to take some other pics of him...like in a free stack position. :)

I really can't judge at that age !! They change every month . At least my Goldens did !! Mine had so many " goofy " stages .

They're beautiful! But at 5 months it's hard to judge! I think RedyreRottweilers could offer some critique!

Thank you all, ill post more pics in the future!
Boston Banker, Saluki's come in smoothe and feathered, feathered ones can have slight hair to quite long hair on the ears, tails and legs. Weather plays a role as does the breeding of course.

I also love sighthounds, in addition to lure coursing I also like real coursing, so I'd be happy to talk anytime you like, by the way your gelding is gorgeous!

Dulce,

What do you mean by short? Height at the whithers, forelegs or chest?

I think his legs look a little too short for his body (compared to a doberman...) but he's pretty tall, taller than some adult rotties ive seen.

Where's redeyre? She can help out probably...

I don't think he's short at all. I mean when you compare him to the Saluki. Saluki's are quite tall dogs and he is the same height.

Cass.
