Sally is going into another foster home tonight. It is with a woman who does border collie rescue.
She started becoming inappropriate with Riley yesterday. Knocking her off her feet, standing over her and growling. I have been redirecting but it has now become so bad that she is not letting Riley near the water dish and she knocked her down the stairs this morning.

If Riley were bigger I would let them sort themselves out, Riley is only 2.2kgs and Sally is 13.06kgs. I can't logically take the risk on it.

I am going to miss her horribly but at least she is going to a foster home with other borders where she can play and run. :(

I'm new to the forum and don't know all the particulars if you have spoken about Sally before but you are doing the right thing. The resident family dogs must always be protected first and there is a bit of difference between your Riley's size and Sally's. Hope she does well in her new foster home. It sounds like she will have plenty of size appropriate dogs to interact with.

That is the main thing for me. She so desperately wants to play and the Paps are frightened of her. It is almost as if she is acting in frustration. I don't see an aggressive bone in this dogs body, she is just going mad for a good rough game.

Poor baby. This is best for her but I am going to miss her so so much!

I wish I could get my hands on whoever was so horrid to that dog. :(

I had the same fear with my Papillon and my dad's BC. There was soooo much potential for disaster with those two when they didn't get along. You're making the best choice for your Paps and for Sally.

We dropped her off last night. It sounds corney but she is living on a farm now! She has huge grounds and 8 other BC's to play with. She was a little nervous at first and clung to me like crazy but curiosity got the best of her and she started exploring. By the time we left she was fine.

I got a text this morning and apparently she has settled in fine!

I miss the little goose!

Ok so ignore my post on your picture thread. The best thing for our dogs doesn't always feel like the best thing for us. :( (((((hugs))))) I'm sorry it didn't work out.

Thank you. It means a lot that everyone is so understanding. I took her on as a foster so it is not too much of a blow.
I would really have liked it if she had worked out but she didn't. What makes it a bit better is that I didn't take her on, promise her a forever home and fail her. I had intended the whole time to find her a forever home.

The new foster is MUCH better suited to her. She so wanted to play with the Paps and they were too scared of her. She was getting so frustrated.

Well, she's going to have tons of playmates now! Finding a new foster home, especially this foster home, was best for all concerned.

its hard but you had to make the best choice for both.I had to watch my adult dogs with puck when he first came home because he was so small and they wanted to rough house, and there wasnt nearly the size diffrence.

(((((hugs)))) Foster status or not, it's still hard to let a dog go to a new place.

And how! It still stings. I think I will miss her forever. :(
I feel that way about our very first foster. :( He was adorable and him and Mu would lay on the floor and growl at each other and make out (lol). I feel awful that I let him go. But he went to an incredibly awesome new home with a guy that wanted to do all kinds of cool things with him. And if we'd kept him we wouldn't have Tipper so.....I dunno. I still miss him and we only had him for about a month. ((((hugs))))
