Hello Everyone! My name is Ashley, and in a few weeks, I am bringing home a beautiful St. Bernard puppy! I want to start him out young, taking him for walks, so he'll be good on a leash and not pull when he gets huge! However, I have heard, for large breeds, that it is not good to walk them alot for the first year. Is this true? If so, for how long should our walks be? Thanks to everyone who replies!:)

Yes - that is true.

It is recommended that you walk him

5 minutes for every month he is old

So..

3 months = 15 minutes per DAY

6 months = 30 minutes per DAY.

and so on.

This will reduce the chances of arthritis when he is older as it will not put any pressure on his growing bones and joints.

Really sheka, it is... You do not want to over do it with large, slow growing dogs..
