Okay, after "The Road". I was bored, surfing Netflix and watched a movie called "And then there was One" (I love Lifetime type movies). It's set in 1984 and about a family who finally has a baby after fertility treatments only to discover that their daughter has AIDS when she is a few months old. They get tested and both are positive. I won't tell you the rest but I was loudly sobbing at the end. Anyone seen it?

So then I was looking for something happy to watch so I can go to bed and I picked another awful sounding movie. IDK what's wrong with me, lol.

The Road is about as close to suicide inducing as a movie can get.

The book is worse. I couldn't finish it, even though the writing is beautiful and compelling.

Interesting -- I know Cormac McCarthy's brother and sister-in-law, from the writers' group, and they've commented that his personality in person doesn't reflect his books, although he can be a bit reclusive.
