Just today my dogs gave me a story worth telling.

First you need to know a bit about our routine.

My BF and I live on the outskirts of a small town. The area here is pretty natural and our dogs spend most of the day exploring and playing with the landlords five dogs.

We do not have a fence. Our landlord doesn't mind us putting up a fence but she won't contribute to the supplies so we've been collecting scrap would and stuff and hopefully can put one up soon.

I know this isn't the best choice but the dogs wake us up at around 6am everyday to go outside. My BF lets them out and then goes back to sleep for a few hours. I work from home and he's inbetween jobs so we don't have to be up bright and early most days.

Anyway, they are usually in the field behind our house or playing with the neighbours dogs.

But this morning they were nowhere to be found. I was sure they had been picked up and were at the shelter.

So, my bf and I drove around looking for them in all their favourite play areas. We found them frolicking quite happily in the parking of - the local shelter. Thankfully the shelter was still closed for the holidays or we'd have been payin $40 a dog to get them home. What a couple of goobers.

My BF and I have decided to let them both out in the morning but just give Mikey (the pitbull) out to do his thing and then bring him back in. Maverick doesn't travel much without him and Mikey likes to be with us more than anything so that should work until we get a good fence.

I do have a line to tie them on but I just hate seeing them like that. They can't do much and usually get all tangled up within 5 minutes of being out. <sigh>

I hope we get that fence up soon.

That was quite a choice of a play area they found! They probably figured, "Hey, our noses say there are lots of dogs to play with here!". You were so lucky! Glad they're back home where they belong. :)

I know. What a couple of turkeys. I'm very lucky. I don't get paid til the end of the week so they would have spent a few nights there.
They were filthy too. I don't know what they'd been into but they both scarfed down their "breakfast" and had a long nap when they got home.
