So we were back at the beach again yesterday enjoying the surf and sun when a woman started walking down the beach towards us with her off leash standard poodle. I was sitting in the water, keeping a hand on Gunnar just in case this wasn't a friendly dog. Her dog (called him Toby) bee-lined for my bag and the kids shoes, hiked up his leg and piddled all over our stuff. As he is doing it I am saying NO NO!! She yells, "get over her Toby" in a ticked off voice and then keeps on walking. Doesn't say anything to me about the fact that he dog just whizzed all over my stuff. Being a nonconfrontatioanl kind of person I kept my mouth shut but I was sure disappointed. Least she could have done was say sorry. Later on they walked back...I made sure I was sitting with Gunnar on our blanket leaning on my bag, she made sure they went way around us. Some people are so rude!

It's not the dogs fault that his owners have not taught him any manners, or that they have no manners themselves!

I would have seriously said something! That is not on! Or alternatively you could have let Gunnar return the favour! lol! :D

And that would have solved what? It wasn't the dogs fault, it was doing what dogs naturally do. It was the owners fault for allowing her dog this unacceptable behavior, the owner should have been kicked if I was going to kick anybody...but...I believe in Kharma (no not Renee's dog LOL), what goes around comes around, she will get hers without me interferring.

Is the beach an offleash area.I know here they must be on leash. At least on a leash she would have had more control over what her dog did although I doubt she cares much anyways. That was quite rude of her and not even to apoligize after her dog did that.Im sorry you had that happen to you but some people just dont know any better. Thanks Lisa.

No leash law on the beach which I am thankful for. Most people that bring their pups there are responsible pet owners like me. It is great for socializing Gunnar and he gets some GREAT exercise in a safe area with no cars around for miles!

I wish our beach was off leash it would be soo much easier for sasha to swim than.I use a 15 foot long leash for at the beach at least that way she can swim a little. You are lucky I wish we could have a offleash one here.We do have a fenced 1 acre dog park though thank god my dogs love it there .Do you have a dog park where you are. Thanks Lisa.

It would be nice to have a surfing dog. But seriously though I would be mad if some crazy dog came running towards me.

Nope, no specific dog parks but most parks around here are "nature" parks and dogs are allowed off leash as long as they are controlled by their owners. We don't have very many problems with dogs around here so we still have lots of privlidges!
