Hey Guys...

I was wondering if anyone here feeds Royal Canin or have fed Royal Canin to their dogs in the past. How was it and did you see in any difference in your dogs? I am currently feeding Solid Gold Puppy and our neighbor keeps raving about Royal Canin. So I wanted to hear more of other dog owners' experiences.

Thanks!

My puppy is on Royal Canin. To tell you the truth, I got the name confused with Canidae(sorry, I'm a rookie dog owner), so when I saw Royal Canin at Petco, I tought I was buying the Canidae that people on this board though so highly of.

I tried to slowly switch my pup to Canidae but my pup didn't seem to like it and he threw up a couple of times. My pup is back on Royal Canin and he seems to like the taste.

From what I gather on this forum, many people think Royal Canin is above the big name brands like Iams, Science Diet and Purina but below brands like Innova, Canidae and Eagle Pack. I also heard Royal Canin is pricey for what you get.

I feed both my chis with royal canin, there very finniky eaters, and RC is possibly the only food they will eat. there at great weights, wonderfull condition and their coat is gorgeous.
they have small (and few at only 1-2 a day) BM's and no odour that ive noticed, and ive never had a problem with gas while theyve been on it.
they get a mixture of RC miniDog and RC chi

I also free feed!

The chi pups (9 weeks now) are on the RC minipuppy and they love it and their coats are great, again good Bm's and its easy for them to eat.

I know its not THE BEST food out there, but my dogs love it and there in great condition...and its cetainly not the worst food there is

if it works for you then go for it!

I used to feed it before switching to Innova. It's under Solid Gold in terms of overall quality, but it's better than Iams and Eukanuba/Science Diet.

My dogs did pretty well it, but they both had chronically soft stools, something that disappeared when I went to Innova.

Out of all of the "big commercial food brands," Royal Canin is my favorite. It isn't the best, but it is by no means a bad food. I wouldn't switch from Solid Gold to RC (because I feel as if Solid Gold is a higher quality food), though.

Royal Canin is a mediocre food, but a lot of people have had great results with it. If you aren't having any problems with Solid Gold then why woud you switch?

Thanks guys! My pup is actually doing great on Solid Gold. It was just that my neighbor kept raving and raving about Royal Canin so I wanted to hear more about it. (My neighbor's a bit snobby) so I wanted to know if it was as good as she claimed it was. She claimed it was better than Solid Gold but I was told otherwise. But thanks again guys!

I love Royal Canin personally. Andy does great on it. His coat is stunning, his stools are very firm, and he never has tummy problems. RC is the only food he will touch aside from Pedigree (what his breeder fed him) so obviously I will stick with it.
