What do you guys think about this dog food? I have Ailey on Eukanuba now, but I heard its really fattening, but thats what the breeder had her on. I hear Royal Canin is good for them.

Royal Canin stil lhas corn, which isn't the greatest. For the money you would spend on either Royal Canin or Eukanuba, you can get something much better, like Solid Gold or Innova.

In my opinion, Royal Canin is overpriced for the lack of quality. Like Hillside said, you could get a much better food for around the same price or cheaper.

Is Solid Gold or this Innova available at Pets mart or something?? I called the vet and they told me Eukanuba is no good to get that other one, but I remember back when they said Eukanuba was good.

Corn in the food?

I agree with the others.

Innova will only be found at small, independent retailers. Solid Gold can be found at most Petco's. If you visit any of these quality food sites, you will find a store locater button that tells you where the food can be purchased in your area. Most of the time, they are easier to fine then people think.

The above is a list of some of the really great foods that are available. Some are better than others and some work better for some dogs than others. You will have to look around and find what is right for your dogs.

Eukanuba is a poor quality food. Royal Canin is better, but still not considered a holistic food with natural benefits etc.

To learn more about why foods are considered better than others, I highly recommend you visit www.dogfoodproject.com and read the Ingredients 101 along with Identifying better products.

It's always easy to ask and be told what to feed your dog, but it's so much better if you are able to understand and know what's on a dog food label for yourself.

Good luck with the search:)

we're switching one of ours over to the RC golden retriever25. So far everything is great. She loves the taste, poop is good and the ingredients not bad. I don't find anything wrong with corn as long as it is tolerated by the dog. We switched due to a suspected flax allergy and this is one of the few better foods out there without it.

It's ok, better than some, worse than others. I used to feed it before I switched to Innova and I can't begin to tell you how much better my dogs have done on Innova. I had an issue with softer stools with RC as well.

Considering what you were paying for Eukanuba you'll find that many of the "better" dog foods are the same price if not cheaper and you will end up feeding less.
HEres a link to a wonderful site to help you better understand dog food ( just a little crash course though)
Euk and the other food you are considering are probably one star maybe 2 but I doubt it.
