I was just wonder if any of you rotate your kibble. I was reading on another board about the benefits of rotating kibble(not developing allergies).

Do you rotate?

How often?

Do you mix food and switch one while keeping the other?

How long till you go back to a certain food?

Do you have a set rotation of foods?

I rotate between the varieties of Taste of the Wild but don't switch brands at all. I just buy a different bag each time and don't mix the foods at all. There have been no problems with this

When I fed kibble I would rotate every 1-2 bags, switching brands and formulas altogether. Not one food has it all so I think there are only benefits in switching it up often.
Now, how you switch should really be up to your dog. Rowdy has a cast iron stomach, so I've always switched him cold turkey since i knew he could handle the food changes.

Before I fed raw, I rotated similar to this.

i rotate. i don't have a set routine. i'll just buy whatever strikes my fancy on a given day. sometimes they eat the same thing for a number of bags in a row. sometimes not. my dogs have all had strong stomachs so i generally just dump the last little bit of the old stuff in the top of the new bag, shake a little bit, call it "Transitioning" and go with that.

Feeding kibble right now, and yes I rotate to a different food an formula each bag. Usually I rotate between a grain free and non-grain free food. Right now Sierra is getting the last 1/4 of her bag of Innova EVO dumped in on top of her new bag of Go! Natural Salmon.

She has an iron stomach, nothing phases her. Variety is key ;)

Ivans breeder does rotate every few bags. I did not when Ivan was on kibble, but that was only because the kind he was on, he wasn't as stinky on it. So it wasn't worth it to me to switch.

never heard of it. what's that? someone would like to explain it a little bit?:(
Not sticking to one type of kibble permanently. Changing it up every bag or more either to different flavours of one brand or simply to a different brand or two every time.

For kibble meals, I rotate between Taste of the Wild, The Honest Kitchen (not really kibble), Orijen, and Natural Balance... just depending on what I feel like buying. The boys do well on all of them, so I switch over cold turkey, as they eat mostly Raw anyway. I always add greek yogurt to their kibble and I don't notice any digestive problems.
