I know about lh chi's since i have one. He does look trimmed to me Especially his ear hair. I guess it's just shorter.
Is your LH Chi well bred? This coat type at this age is 110% normal.

He is a real stunner Fran, I think he is going to grow into quite the little man!

Coat length can vary in LC chis... like Foxy said before, their coats grow until they're 3 years old.

AKC standard states:

In Long Coats, the coat should be of a soft texture, either flat or slightly wavy, with undercoat preferred. Ears – Fringed. Tail – Full and long (as a plume). Feathering on feet and legs, pants on hind legs and large ruff on the neck desired and preferred. (The Chihuahua should be groomed only to create a neat appearance.) Disqualification – In Long Coats, too thin coat that resembles bareness.
So basically, as long as they HAVE a coat, it doesn't matter if they're less fluffy or super fluffy.

At 9 months, Tucker already has a huge ruff around his neck, and crazy long pants. He was the fluffiest in his litter.

OMG! I thought it was a papillon you were getting?! I was looking at these pics and thinking... This papillon sure looks very chihuahuaish. Lol.

He is cute and I just love his name. Who cares about his coat. Short or not, he's friggin adorable!
