Riot went to his first mixed Advanced/Excellent level class tonight!

He did amazing!! There is a station that you have to do after every run called "honour" and you have to sit the dog in the middle of the room and have them sit, stand, or down while the next dog goes through the course. Your dog isn't allowed to switch positions, get up and move around. They have to stay still. If your dog does this, then he passes the whole course!
Riot did it today and he was just a doll about it! He had people whipping leashes over top of him, someone dropped their chair and it made a huge crash. Riot stared over at it but didn't get up or move his butt at all!:) I was so happy with my little monster!

His back looks like its healed up properly as well wahoo! My vet tech friend checked him out and said that it looks like he just had a reaction to something. I've been racking my brain to try and think from what but couldn't think of anything.. so we'll see I guess lol

Anyways, Riot was SOO excited to get there, he was basically in ADD mode for the first 5 minutes until i started to do some work with him.
Today was the first time since the beginning of the summer that I used treats as a bait for him in this type of situation and he was OVER gung hoe for them lol He'd OVER heel or OVER sit lol At least he was trying.
On his second run he was just perfect!!
I couldn't have asked for a better boy! His heels were nice and close, he had consistant eye contact with me when we were heeling. Ahh he was just such a good boy!

and then when we came out of class.. There is a grassy patch for the dogs to "go" on afterwards so I brought Riot out and my mom was already out there with Jada(we have class together so we basically compete with each other in class haha), anyways there was a lady out there with an older Golden and an Aussie puppy maybe 6 or 7 months old.
BOTH of this ladys dogs had NO manners.. they were pulling at the end of the leash, barking consistantly(the aussie was)...
Anyways, she ended up letting the Aussie puppy loose - can you imagine that! LOOSE there is a busy road that the school is based on!!
Anyways, it comes CHARGING up to Riot - obviously it was very friendly but first off it was a male - Riot is working on his male aggresion - this DIDNT help..
secondly it was a young puppy - Riot isn't fond of young puppies, but will deal with them if they have manners and will then play with them..

So the thing is jumping all over Riot.. Riot is trying to get away from it letting out nasty snarls warning it. I grab Riot by the collar so he can't "do" anything to the dog and yell at the idiot who let the thing go.

I told her to grab her dog right now b/c its mauling my dog. She comes over and grabs her puppy and says "come on, lets go somewhere where its friendlier"..

i'm thinking.. you are a 100% moron.. firstly - it was pitch black out and only street lights were on..
They are BOTH males
she doesn't know my dog
etc etc etc

Wow some people are truely idiots.
I spoke to a few other people that were outsdie about this incident and every single one of them told me that the lady unleashed that dog around their dogs as well, one person now has a dog aggresive dog b/c of that puppy. It just has NO manners..
I wouldn't mind and I know Riot would have at least tolerated it if the dog walked up to Riot slowly and showed respect to him instead of jumping all over him.
I'm sure it didn't help Riots back either after hes getting over those bumps and scabs.

Gah.. some people are idiots..

Huzzah for Riot!!!

And what a stupid, stupid owner...one of these days she's going to run into someone who has a very DA dog and is going to hurt her puppy. Though if she does this on a regular basis, despite the fact that others have made it known it's uncouth and impolite at best, perhaps she's looking for a lawsuit to throw around? And what a horrible waste of an Aussie.

Extremely horrible waste of an Aussie. The dog is very friendly - i'll give it that.. but so much that it pisses every dog off that isn't the same was as it. Jada played with it fine - minus the fact that it flattened her a few times.

The lady is a spaz.. I'd met her a few times.. she doesn't really have much respect for her Golden - hes not that brilliant. I've seen her yell at him IN class before b/c he wasn't listening.. lol good plan eh?

In the summer time I was driving home from watching my mom participate in a RallyO competition, I was rounding a blind corner and the same lady came peeling around it IN MY LANE (on a dirt road) full tilt.. she skidded across straight infront of me and fish tailed out as she was trying to brake.. like what idiot does this.. I only recognized her b/c I saw her Golden in the backseat getting swished around all over the place - no seatbelt.

Good thing I was only going maybe 40 km around it! I could brake in time..

Way To Go Riot!!!

Ya know, I bet that dog owner treats or would treat her kids the same way....run free, do what you want, there's no consequences to your actions, etc.

That's awesome! Congrats Riot & Jenn :D

The honours thing sounds really difficult... but describing everything makes me miss doing Rally. It is so so much fun, especially when you & your dog do really well!

ughha. I feel ya, with the rude owner/crazy puppy story. I hate that so much. That's mostly why Gonzo completely avoids puppies (that he doesn't know), because people with bouncy (especially Lab) puppies think socializing them means allowing them to run up to every other dog in sight & jump all over them. I always, always ask first before letting Fozzie even go near another dog. That lady sounds both rude & completely ignorant, and she's lucky her puppy didn't get hurt with what she was doing :(...
