My dad rescued a sharpei mix last night. He was stopped at a traffic light and saw people across the road beating the dog with a stick. So he pulled over and approached them. He didn't want conflict and the guys didn't want the dog so my dad put the dog in the car and came home.
The dogs name is Rajah, he is 6-8months. I think they were using him as fighting dog bait as he has scars on his muzzle and 2 small puncture wounds which were fresh and I disinfected and cleaned out.
It was instant drama when he came and I had to kennel the sharpei for the night outside (have a nice structure outside that previous owner built) and had all my dogs inside. They wanted to eat the poor guy up. 1 dog at a time with him was fine but more than 1 was overwhelming and my dogs were prodding him too much for my liking.
I called every single rescue in my area this morning, everyone is full and nobody could help...
So... I posted on classified sites.
Within one day he now has a home with a shapei enthusiast who lost his best friend and sharpei a year ago and just never found the right sharpei to fill the void. When he saw our rescue on the internet...he fell in love. I chose this guy out of 8 people who contacted me for this dog...
