of course you can gamedogs
and thank you all.
thank you Miakoda. I do not own an APBT right now obviously (and believe me that is eating me up me inside lol), but I am passionate about the breed....every little bit helps.
Well, do you want one?
It's a secret, but I almost ran over a dog yesterday morning when the thing tried to dart across the road. I swerved (since no cars were coming in the other lane) and she just lied down right there in the middle of the road and wouldn't move. I was going to keep driving, but alas I couldn't. I got out and she just stayed cowered down, but started wagging her tail. And lo-and-behod, it was a "pit bull" or "pit bull type" female. So I loaded her up in the back of the Magnum, or rather she jumped in happily.
I took Cole to his preschool and then took the dog up to the clinc. We checked her out and she's ok. She's a tad thin, approx. 40 lbs (but won't be much bigger when at an ideal weight), had whipworms (I dewormed her), and is a very weak pos for heartworms (on the snap test...she was neg on the direct smear). She's young, probably about 2 or 3. Since it seemed she was doing ok, I hung out there a bit and waited for an op table as we decided to go ahead and spay her and get all the "ucky" things over with. I sat in the front office with her and she did amazing! She was so calm and so happy to be with people. She actually ignored another tech's Chi that was up there (yes, we were supervising closely) and she ended up curling up by Carson's carseat.
I spayed her yesterday evening and I'll pick her up sometime this weekend. You see, my hubby doesn't know about her.
That's how I came up with her name, "Kimi" which means "secret" in Algonquin.
But now is not a good time for me to bring in another dog. Our back fence was completely blown apart and down from the hurricane, one side was taken out by a falling tree, we've got major roof damage and leaks all over the house, and our wooden floor is buckling up thanks to all the moisture from the foundation/subfloor. So right now all my dogs have to be kenneled and hand-walked and soon I will have to take them & the kids and move out so all the construction work can begin (our house sustained about $30,000 worth of damage from Hurricane Gustav). So I really need to find this sweet girl a good home.
I took some pics with a disposable camera yesterday and I'm going to pick up the cd from wal-mart later on. I'll post pics asap.
