I had input on Buzz's registered name but it was really a (horrendous) family effort! He is "Sir Buzz Domino." I would definitely change it, and gave it a lot of thought when I was registering him with other organizations (NADAC, UKC, WCRL). In the end, I stuck with it. I thought through Toy Story lines and bumble bee references but ultimately, he would have been "Aroha's To Infinity And Beyond" had I changed it for other organizations.

My best friend (at-the-time) and I chose Bailey's registered name, to "compliment" Buzz's! She is "Madam Bailey Angel." Ahehehe. I did decide to change her registered name for CPE and CDSP where she became "Aroha's Limited II Irish Creme" as a play on her sire and dam's registered names. She is registered with USDAA and NADAC as "Madam Bailey Angel."

And I love, love, love Gabby's registered name. I chose it, "Aroha's ESRA Gift of Gab!" (ESRA owing to the rescue that got her to me.) So far she's registered with AKC and WCRL/USDAA, where her name is the same.

I wasn't totally sure how to answer this one. I regret not picking "cheese curds". :lol-sign: His name is Truepenny Olympic Triumph.

I had some freedom to chose his name, but it was under a lot of restrictions. Of course the kennel name came first, Truepenny. The Olympic part was because the puppies were born during the 2012 Olympics. I got to choose the last word. I kind of wanted "Olympic Hopeful", but my breeder didn't like it because he was going to be a show dog and she didn't want people gossiping about how he was only a "hopeful". :rofl1: So I picked Triumph. It's not a bad name, but I don't love it or anything. I do like the idea of litter themes so that it's obvious the puppies are littermates, but I wish I got a better theme to work with. His call name obviously has nothing to do with his registered name, and I think his brothers and sisters are the same in that respect.

I chose it, the breeder really didn't care as long as it fell under CBCA guidelines (under 14 characters not including breeder name, most owners just use the dog's first name).

I kept it simple. His litter name was Jake which I liked, but not enough to name him that (plus it was a Twilight litter. Jake is short for Jacob, barf).

So he's Hawk's Landing's Finnegan Jake.

I'm happy with the decision! When I tell people his reg name now, they think I named him after Adventure Time. Which I didn't, because when I got Finn only the pilot was out and the kid's name was Pen in the pilot. It's one of my favorite shows now, so I forgive it haha.

Mine are all in my sig, but:

Auggie is The Flash
Payton is Sharp Dressed Man
Pepper is Chocolate Swizz-l-icious
Georgie is Peach Pudding N Pie

I wanted to give Auggie something that referenced his little lightning bolt mark, and it was between The Flash or Lightning Crashes. But The Flash is my fave superhero so I went with The Flash. Sometimes I wish I'd gone with Lightning Crashes just because I have a tendency to want to give my dogs registered names that are song titles, but meh.

I had intended for a long time to give my first show dog the registered name of Sharp Dressed Man, and actually it was his co-owner who suggested it while we were trying to brainstorm name ideas, so I was like "oh it's kismet." The only other option would have been Sweetness to go with the Walter Payton theme.

I didn't pick Pepper's and I'm not a huge fan of it. It was picked to match her sister (Twizz-l-rific) but I don't feel like it suits her. I'm not sure what I would have picked for her instead... probably some kind of Wonder Woman reference to match Auggie's Flash. Pepper is a tough one because I don't like her name or her registered name but I really don't know what else I would name her.

Georgie's was easy: Georgie Porgie Pudding N Pie, kissed the girls and made them cry. We also added in the "peach" because she was named after her great-grandma Georgia, who had the nickname Georgia Peach/Peaches. So Peach Pudding N Pie. I think it's cute, I like it.

All of our rescues have made up names that are plays on where they came from, etc. Hence:

Sunshine State's Original Creation.
Marvel
He came from Florida, the sunshine state and Original Creation was the first big Marvel comics book.

Gnome's breeder just wanted the kennel name in there so she is:
Tempest's Not Your Garden Variety
Gnome

I voted cheese curds because delicious and also because I'm still deciding on my puppy's registered name. I get to choose it as long as it's the kennel name first (which is a given). I already know the call name, and the registered name is going to be related, so I have a few ideas floating around but nothing definitive yet!

Mia is Life of the Party. She's 5th generation with the word party in it.

This is embarassing but I have no idea what Summer's registered name is. And it's a problem because I forsee AKC agility soon. I don't even know her sire or dam's registered names! I have her paperwork somewhere.... somewhere... It just wasn't important to me at the time since she was 4 and I had no intentions of showing in anything. I lost touch with her breeder the last few years. I tried emailing but never got a reply.

Luce's I got to make up completely from scratch as she was from the shelter, so she is Siren's Eleusinian Mystery. Siren was my little poodle, and I wanted to honor her and keep her in mind.

The Border Collies have to have Orion as the first word, but after that can be anything. Steve is Orion Steve in ABCA and Orion Never Seen Blue (after the Tori Amos song) in AKC

Beanhead is only AKC, and he is Orion Go for Launch. I wanted something astronaut-y. Alan Bean was the fourth man to walk on the moon. He is also an amazing artist. Plus I like the nod to Bean in Ender's Game.

Now for the truly bizarre-o world story: when I first met my boyfriend, he asked me about the tattoo on my forearm. So of course that led to my asking if he had any tattoos. He pulled up his shirtsleeve and he has a beautiful tattoo of an astronaut and the moon. I said, "that's an Alan Bean painting, isn't it?" and he nearly fell over. And then I told him I'd named my dog after Alan Bean. LOL

Some things are just meant to be.

I will be picking Abrams' registered name, but haven't yet. Lol I'm hoping I'll like what I pick! It'll be Blackwood's something something. Probably tank related since he's named after one.

I picked all of my dogs' registered names and I only wish I could have changed Maggie's.

Maggie was Miss Maggie Mae Take It Away. I really have no idea why, just that I was 15 at the time I picked it. LOL I have no clue what it would be if I were naming her now, though.

Ziva is Stardog's Can't Take the Sky. After Firefly. Ziva means bright or brilliant in Hebrew, so it fit well.

Kestrel is Stardog's It Happens after a country song, but also because he was a failed foster. His call name is the word I misspelled in my school's spelling bee in 5th grade. LOL

Aeri is Aerten van Sinova. Aerten is a battle fate in mythology (I forget what country). She had to have the van Sinova ending and her name needed to start with A. I actually picked that name before I decided to buy her. ;)

Snipe is Stardog's Wilderness Explorer from Up. I had help picking it from people on Chaz and I loooove it!

Ripley and Keira don't have registered names. Well, that's not true, my mom picked registered names for both, but then they were never registered due to various life circumstance reasons. It was a sore point for a while, but now I don't care. Keira was supposed to be Ever Lasting Love (the litter theme was "ever") and Ripley was supposed to be The Talented Mr Ripley ("Rip" was the theme, no idea why lol). Kennel name in front, of course.

Journey is Oracle Twist of Fate TreeStarr. A chaz member suggested it and I liked it way better than anything I could think of. I'd prefer if TreeStarr came right after Oracle so it flowed better, but I still like it, and it seems lots of second kennel names go at the end of the name anyway so she's not the only one.

Dance is Tollwest's Dancing In Style. I didn't choose her name and don't care for it. She, ironically, is from a "dance" themed litter, but that had nothing to do with how she got her call name. I think I would have chosen Tollwest Life's a Dance as that suits her better and I like it better.

Also, odd quirk of mine, but I don't like when a kennel name ends in apostrophe "S" like Dance's does. Not sure why, but I just prefer when it doesn't have that and is just the word/name.

I picked both Ivan and Phoebes names out.
Ivans is Highland's Seeing in Blk & Wht. His litter was a color theme. And while I like it, it is kind of corny and doesn't quite fit him. I should have put shadow in there somewhere. LOL
Phoebes is Highland's Against the Odds at Gypsy. Her litter theme was gambling. And it fits her. She was almost the puppy who wasn't. Not only where the odds against me getting the color I wanted, I almost didn't get her.

I chose my dogs' names and I still like them. :)

Pirate is Blaizen's Jolly Roger, CGC. I had picked it out 9 or so years prior to his birth when I was in the sixth grade. I did a report on pirate flags and boom. That was to be the name of my first show dog. I was torn for a while between the call name Pirate or Roger but ultimately, chose Pirate because I don't care for human names for dogs. lol Blaizen is the kennel he's from.

Bayleigh's Canine Partners name is Jolly Roger's Baby Werewolf, CGC. It absolutely fits her and I adore the name. I decided Jolly Roger would be my kennel name after Pirate, obviously. We say she looks like a baby werewolf all the time. Her name tag says baby werewolf on the front. It was meant to be. ;)

Penny's name is still up in the air as I haven't sent in her PAL paperwork yet. She will more than likely be Jolly Roger's Copper Penny unless I can find something better.

Little, old Emily isn't and won't be registered. Her full name is Emily Rose.

Mine are all over the board in terms of source, but I like them all. They all including my "kennel name" and tie to their call names in one way or another, though not always directly or obviously.

I chose Kim and Webster's registered names, and made up a pseudo kennel name for them so it looks all official. At the time I just did it for a laugh for their OFA paperwork...then later actually registered them with it for various organizations, and have continued using that name in all my dogs' registered names. Good thing I like it :)

Mira's registered name was assigned by her breeders, who name and register all their puppies before they go home. Just tacked my "name" to the end. Not my favorite way of doing it, but I like the name they chose and it ties in with her call name by strange coincidence, which is nice.

Lodin's registered name will be his breeder's name followed by whatever I want, which has already been picked out, and again with my name at the end. I like it.
