Disagree if you will...........I wasn't even using you as an example, but you have to do what is best for your dog and if placing in her another home because she eats poop is it than so be it! I have heard the pregnancy excuse one to many times in my line of work be it vet technician/dog groomer. Plenty of people do want to get rid of there pets when they are having children because they can't be bothered to own them and care for them anymore.................It is very true!
My point is that pregnancy isn't always a lame excuse. That was what I disagreed with. I agree, it it's one dog that's already trained and is no problem then YES they are being selfish and shame on them! If I wasn't pregnant I would be able to be outside with Ci-Ci all the time to keep an eye on her. But, because I am pregnant and my energy level is down it is very hard to baby sit every time she goes outside whether it be to play (which can be for hours) or do her business. I have 3 other dogs and I foster young small puppies. This is not a situation where I am trying to get rid of a problem. I am trying to do what is best for my dog and for my family.

What's worse is when guilt-stricken people surrender a dog with a lame excuse (no time, we have to move, etc.) because they know the real one will hurt the dog's chances of being adopted - ie, the dog bites, the dog hates other dogs, eats cats, etc. Unless the shelter staff is sharp and honorable about not 'saving' every dog regardless of adoptability, these dogs are going to take up precious space in the shelter and then create havoc if they do get adopted to a new home that doesn't have a clue that Shep's idea of tolerant is a warning snap.

Yeah the good old "no time" excuse is how we ended up getting Jasper,a 7 month old chihuahua/dachshund mix. I suspect it was an impulse buy and the owner felt overwhelmed. If you get a puppy remember he'she is cute and cuddly but they're like a human infant they're alot of work.Don't get a puppy unles you can make the commitment.
