I really don't post all that much, and haven't been on the boards in quite some time, but I really need your good vibes and prayers sent my way.

My little guy Rosco is pretty sick. We are off to the vet for an appointment at 10, and I could really use some prayers sent his way.

He has always been a really picky eater, and has always been skinny, but within the last few weeks he's gotten REALLY skinny. He's drinking excessively and taking really long pees. Yesterday, when I got home from work to take them out he seemed kinda lethargic, and I figured he had been sleeping all day and was just waking up from his nap, but I noticed he was limping.

He went outside and was kinda taking it slow walking around, after being out for about 5 minutes he was putting full pressure on all legs, trotting along, going potty, etc. Seemed happy and normal.

Went back inside, he went right to bed. Tried to get him up for dinner, he refused. I opened a can of wet food and he gobbled that right up but wouldn't eat kibble. He went back to bed. At this point, I'm starting to get worried.

He layed and slept on the couch pretty much the rest of the night, which is pretty typical for him, as he's getting up there in years. This morning when I woke up to take them out, he could barely stand. He was limping really bad, and when he goes to shake himself he can hardly do it.

Instantly called the vet and am leaving within the next 30 minutes to go to his appointment.

Please keep my little Rosco in your thoughts today and send him positive vibes, he really needs it. I will keep you updated on his situation. I hope it's nothing too serious, but I am willing to do whatever it takes to help my baby get better.

Thanks guys, really appreciate it!

I just got off the phone with the vet...my little buddy has a urinary tract infection and he tested positive for lyme's disease. He may have kidney damage...we are waiting on the tests for kidney and liver. His blood sugar was high, but the doctor said it was due to stress. He has blood and a high level of protein in his urine. He is on an antibiotic for the lymes disease and urinary infection.

Once they put him on the IV for fluids because he was so dehydrated, and he perked right up and ate a whole can of food. So he's perky and seems happy, but he's still pretty sick.

I don't know anything about lyme's disease...what is going to happen to him?

I am just a mess. I had a horrible day.

Good that they did a tick borne illness test. If it is caught early, it is treatable. Hope he is feeling better soon.

Here is an update on Rosco:

Blood work for the kidney's came back...he is in kidney failure. The thing is, and the vet said this herself, he looks terrible on paper but in person he is doing fantastic. I can't remember everything that she told me, I wrote it all down, but I will try my best to put it in a nutshell.

He is on antibiotics for the lyme's and the urinary tract infection, which will be for a month as of right now. He also received fluids because he was so dehydrated yesterday. He received the fluids yesterday and today. On Saturday I am taking him in to get more fluids and then again on Monday. She gave me two weeks worth of his medications and in two weeks I will go back again to get more meds and do more bloodwork to see how his kidney's are doing.

The vet said that if the kidney failure is caught early enough that the damage may be reversible. But....if it's progressed far enough, well, it will be time to make the hard decisions.

Right now, I am taking it one step at a time and am thrilled to have him home. He's SO much more active and happy, he's trotting around in the yard, wagging his tail, giving kisses, being affectionate towards the kitties. He even engaged in a little play session with Zander.

They gave us some food that is called kidney something or other...it's made by hills and apparently he gobbles it right up. We picked up some of the KD stuff and the other one is called AD which is high in protein and should aide him in gaining some weight back? I really wish I remembered to bring home the sheet from work that I wrote everything down on.

Anyways...thank goodness he's home!!!!! And thank you for the support and prayers! Let's hope he pulls through this and those hard decisions can wait a few more years!

My biggest fear is i am facing the same thing. Please let it be reversable for Roscoe. I will be pulling for him every inch of the way.. IF he has lymes the anitibiotics will make him feel a little worse before he feels better. Hugs to you and rubs and scratches and kisses for Roscoe's ears. I am so sorry your all going through this.
