Emma is seriously shivering once again since we've been outside for like 2 minutes. She has a warm velvet and fleece faux fur jacket but it seems to be doing nothing for her. Any suggestions of a SUPER WARM jacket for a 5 lb dog?

I found this one at I think, Petsmart...possibly Petco. I've had it for a few years so don't know if they still have one like it. But it's reversable and very thick fleece on one side and a velour on the other. I usually have her wear it with the fleece on the inside, the brown on the outside. It even sports little pockets on each side and has velcro closures. In the picture, it's not closed very well.

You can see where I live...get some very cold temperatures here and Chulita and Jose both have identical coats for walks and so forth. They don't really use them for just going out for a pee break. If your dog is cold inside and you can't turn up the heat, they do make pajamas...more comfortable clothes for night time. Will your dog stay snuggled in a blanket inside? My Chi's love burrowing into blankets.

Poor Chuli...I just woke her up from a sound sleep in front of the fire to model her coat and take the pictures. She doesn't look too happy....kind of half with it. She thought, "Oh no....a walk now?????? I was just having such a nice sleep. Mom is mean." :(

I had to buy Tinkers coats at build a bear and Michaels (craft store). It's really hard to find good warm coats for dogs under 10 pounds. Chuli looks soooo adorable Doberluv, what a sweet little girly.

Thanks Krisy and Dr2little. I think she looks really ugly in that picture. LOL. But it is a cozy coat. Hope you find one...if you're sure it's cold and not something else making her shiver. Does she eat a few times a day? It wouldn't hurt to have her checked by a vet. Sometimes pain or discomfort causes them to shiver too. Probably just cold, but thought I'd toss the idea in. My little ones shiver sometimes just because they're tiny dogs I think....maybe a nervous time or maybe their metabolisms are speedier at times. (?) I don't really know but toy breeds do shiver a little anyhow at times. But what you're describing sounds like it's all the time. Let us know what you find for a coat.

ugh I have been having a hard time too. My boy is only 3 pounds and I need something boy-ish. I did find him a fleece hoodie harness made by doogles, but it's not SUPER warm,

Doberluv.. I'm pretty sure it's just the cold because she never shivers otherwise unless i'm blow drying her, because she's petrified of that - poor girl.

It just started happening when winter came about. I think I might try fidofleece.com and get the one that covers all four legs from there even though I really wanted to buy something locally.

Dr 2 Little.. I bet Tinker looks so cute in a build a bear jacket! :)
