Has anybody tried Rachel Ray dog food? I bought some of this because it looked ok from the ingredient list and seemed to be the best choice of what was available at the store I went to. This was the dry food. Usually my dogs are very picky and don't care too much for dry food.

But, they gobble this stuff up like you wouldn't believe. All 4 of them. They act like they can't get enough of it. I've never seen them eat like this. Its almost as if there is something in there that is addictive to dogs.

I read the ingredients on one of the bags in the grocery store. It stayed there, and won't be coming into this house.

When it came out I looked and wasn't too impressed. For someone who pushes eating better her dog apparently isn't.

Never seen it, but wouldn't buy it solely on the fact that I hate Rachel Ray lol.
Ewww, her voice! My god. She sounds like a 90 year-old former crack addict who smokes 7 packs a day.

I agree, that food is terrible. Is the store called Wal*Mart, by any chance? I'm sure it's the best thing at W*M, but that says absolutely nothing. You can get much better food at the same price or less, if you factor in that 75%+ of undigestible fillers that your dog is going to poop out. I remember when Rachel Ray did a few shows about home-cooked for dogs, and I thought that was great, but apparently she had a change of heart.

I read on another board that someone did the Rachel Ray cooked food for dogs and their dog got sick. I would not feed my dog anything with her name on it. The same goes for anything from Martha Stewart if she was to have her own name on any dog food.

She is a good cook for human food, and she needs to stay with that. She knows nothing on dog nutrition.

I would not doubt it!!!

I read a few of her recipes, none of which included a source of calcium - via bone meal or eggshells or anything! Calcium is vital. It kind of shocked me that some one didn't tell her that. I might make some of them as an occasional treat, but never as a regular diet.

Honestly, I would probably trust Martha. She knows her stuff about dogs... and her IQ is probably double that of Rachael Ray. Lawl!

Thanks for your input. I really don't know what dry food to feed then. All the other stuff was a lot worse than this brand. The store was KMart by the way.

I read somewhere that the majority the dry foods that claim to be good are not really good. Any ingredient with the word meal after it isn't any good. The problem is my dogs are very fussy and finding something they all like is almost impossible.

I usually cook for them, or give them Merrick canned food. I just can't find a dry food that I can trust. At least not in the stores around here.

no the word meal is good. The words by products aren't. Likely nothing at kmart is good.

Do you have a walmart? Walmart has Maxxximum which isn't terrible.... or a costco? The costco brand dog food is decent too.

Those are the only decent, non petstore brands I can think of

I would feed Maximum from walmart. Actually I think I have in a pinch. I go to tractor supply company, or any local farm/feed store and get diamond naturals.

As a guide, look for food with meat as the first ingrediant, and no corn, wheat, soy or by-products. Alot of pet stores carry Diamond Naturals which is the one I feed and has been mentioned here some to. Its a good one.

Sadly, too many people who do home cooked for their pets think that dogs need to eat like people with plenty of veggies and carbs and the like.

It's surprising that someone in the public eye wouldn't at least check with a pet nutritionist to make sure the recipes she's providing are OK.

Werd.

Some lady brings her poor elderly Peke into the hotel, and gives us bags of fruit/vegetable salad to feed her! Like, sprouts, carrots, oranges, raspberries, etc. Raw and whole veggies, to boot. The poor dog seems to have no energy at all, and never touches her salads. I want to give that poor dog a RMB.

"6 cups chicken broth
Salt
3/4 pound ground beef, pork and veal mixture
2 large eggs
1/3 cup chopped shredded carrots
1/3 cup grated Parmigiano-Reggiano, plus more for sprinkling
1/3 cup bread crumbs
1/4 cup finely chopped fresh parsley leaves
1 clove garlic, mashed into a paste with a little salt, optional
Freshly ground black pepper
1/2 pound ditalini pasta"

Mmm... nothing like a half pound of ditalini pasta for a Carnivore! :p
