So sad---what a tremendous effort was put into saving this horse-- how hard it must be for his owners, doctors, and care takers to say goodbye.

Oh how sad! I really couldn't believe how hard this one fought- it was so clear that he was a horse who wanted to live.

I'm wondering if anyone knows whether or not he was "collected" from? It would be lovely to see some Barbaro sons and daughters on the race track in the future.

I'm sure he wasn't. The Jockey Club only allows live-covered horses to be registered, so even if there is semen available, none of the offspring will be allowed on a track.

RIP you gorgeous boy. He was such a fighter, its sad to see him go :( Things were looking so good for a while there...

I found out today at school, my history teacher was online, and when I went to ask him a question I saw it :(

Hopefully he's in a better place now.

How interesting, Boston. My experience with the horse world is pretty limited- would you happen to know why that is?

with stud fees as much as a car sometimes lol.
Wow, you must have really nice cars;) I don't think it is all that unusual for good TBs stud fees to step into the 100K range; if I remember correctly, some are as much as a quarter to half-million.

Makes the $2500/3K sporthorse stallions seem cheap.
