Hi all, I'm so gald I've found this forum. I know that some of these things I say might sound silly, but I just got Izzie on Friday (she's a 6 week old Bulloxer that I rescued from the SPCA) I've never raised a puppy on my own before and since my hubby's not returning from Iraq until next month, I want to get some things accomplished before then.
First off, ever since we've been home, I watch her constantly. I don't work or anything so I just play and hang out with her a lot. As soon as we got home we've established that outside is where we go potty and it seems like everytime she has to go outside, that's the only time she'll jump down from my lap. Plus as soon as she gets done doing her business she'll go and sit on the stairs and wait to be carried upstairs to get back inside. Is this crazy of me thinking that she's understanding a little allready, or can she be really?
Also, I've been feeding her three times a day about a 1/2 cup each time or so. Should I be leaving water out constantly or just when I'm feeding her?
Also, is she too young to start socializing? I realize she hasn't had all of her shots yet, but I don't want to miss out on the most crucial time and would really love to start walking her just around the yard and maybe meeting a few new friends. I understand the risks and everything, but since I'm her only companion right now, she pretty much doesn't let me put her down. Not that I mind, I can't help myself.
Also, when and how often should I start teaching her how to sit and what are the techniques? I've only had her two days and want to make sure that she's trusting me first and everything before we do that. Well any information anyone can provide is greatly apprecaited. I'm so excited to start raising my little gal and you'll definitely see more of me around the boards! take car e<<33
