me along with most people arent nearly as educatd about a breeder as we should be. so for people like me that would like to buy another dog (for me,a bloodhound, black and tan coonhound or basset hound) what type of questions should i be asking a breeder, and more importatly, what answer am i looking for?

for instance,my granpa hunts with black and tan coonhounds, so he breeds occasionaly (i think his last female had 2 litters her hole life) based on how well the dog hunts, looks, acts, and health, with hunting success usually being the biggest factor. so, for instance, (and i wont take offence) is he a good breeder or a shoddy one? (BTW, he does'nt breed just to sell dogs, he picks his from the litter, the owner of the sire (or dame, which ever) picks a few, and the others are sold or dispersed thru our family of hunters, or hunting friends)

the biggest thing i have noticed is people breeding dogs for the sake of breeding dogs, and others breeding for more purpose such as my grandpa. is there really a difference, or one better than the other? I'm sure i'm about to open a can of worms but i'm confused about what makes a good breeder a good breeder
