Spin-off from Miakoda's thread...

Would you donate your eggs to someone that was able to sustain a pregnancy (ie - healthy uterus), but couldn't conceive (ie - genetic problems, unhealthy eggs, etc)?

Would you sell your eggs if you were in need of the money?

Just wanted to hear what everyone's opinions are!

Personally, I don't know if I would donate my eggs to someone I knew, because that would mean that I would know the child, and I'm not sure if I would want that connection. But then again, I've never been asked, so I'm not sure what I would do.

I would sell my eggs if I needed the money, though.

They're mine! All mine!

So, no, I wouldn't sell or donate my eggs. There are plenty of children out there that need homes, I don't agree with going to such lengths to give birth to a baby. Doesn't meant it's wrong, I just don't agree with it.

On a more practical note, if anyone remembers the thread a while back about whether or not you would stay with your spouse after finding out you are biological siblings...I admit that is one of my fears with donating.

Absolutely. I have actually put a lot of thought into it. If I were able carry a child but I were infertile I would really want the experience of being pregnant and carrying my child at least once. I think its a great thing.

I have struggled over whether or not its wrong to take money for it but its a pretty invasive procedure. They call it donating even if you take money for it but the parents pay you a "compensation" fee for your inconvenience. I think I would take money b/c, although I am really sympathetic to people w/ fertility issues, it would be difficult to have my eggs removed from my body for strangers just out of the goodness of my heart.

I think its great if someone wants to do it for free but I wouldnt feel bad taking money.

You know, after reading more about what goes into it, I don't think I would be able to either. Psychologically, I wouldn't be able to go through with it. And medically, I don't think I'd get approved.

I dont know. Probably not, because I've heard that it is quite risky and invasive. It can be dangerous.

Yep.
I'm highly unlikely to use them, and I'm sure I have more than enough for myself should I choose to have children.... so ya.. for the money. ;)
