I just got a hepititas B and hep A vaccination shots Friday and I had a quick question. Is it suppose to make the areas around the shot sites bruise, swell and be pretty sore? I'm pretty sure it's probably normal, but I'd rather be sure :) and anyone know when it should go away?

Thanks :)

I am sure all that would be pretty normal.

My 3 year old got two shots last week and he still has bruises at the site.
Not for the same thing though, his was for a croup cough, and it worked overnight. Much better now. He also played it out, and limped for two days.:D Telling me all about how he can't walk cause the doctor gave him shots and "hurt" his legs.

Yeah, it sucks but is normal. And the more you use the arm the quicker the soreness goes away.

Yuck I hate hepititas shots!!!! I had to get one back in 2nd grade when this little boy in my class got it and he made cookies so we all had to get A and B shots to make sure we wouldn't get it either.

And oh boy did I ever bruise and swell so I would say yes normal.

Yeah, the Hep A and B vaccines always make the injection site sore and bruised. A little ice will help with the swelling. When I had mine it felt like some one had punched me in the arm. Make sure you go in on time for your booster shots or you'll have to start all over again. Mine were a series of 3 shots each, but I forget how many months apart they are.

I have to go back soon for a different shot and then in 6 months for another one. I know the one that I need soon isn't a Hep shot, but the one in 6 months may be.

It is, they stagger them that way. (the 6 months one, dunno bout the soon one).

It's normal too. just your bodies reaction to the illness. A shot is just a dead/almost dead version of the disease so your body gets experience in fighting it and stores the data that it needs for how to kill the disease for when/if you get the full blown thing.

It's like a video game but on a molecular scale.

Yep, it is a reaction to the Vaccination. Sometimes it happens, other times it doesn't.

Your Dr. should have told you about all the possible side-effects from Soreness on up before you got the shot.

yup..depends on how the shot was given too. I had a nurse once that could give you the evil ones and you would stand back and say you didn't give me the shot you just pretended..she was THAT GOOD!
