I always find it amusing when people think their mixes will automatically get the coat of one breed and the temperament/personality of the other. Like you can order it out of a book:confused:

The other thing I would tell these people is that MANY doodles require more coat care than a poodle!!! I think that is the biggest surprise people get when adding a doodle to their house. They think because it is a cross there isn't coat care and then have a melt down when you have to strip their dogs with a 7-10 blade because its SO matted.

I agree. I don't understand why people think because they have a dog that "might" not shed, they don't bother brushing,combing/grooming. If they had kids, would they neglect to brush their hair for months and then take them for a haircut expecting a nice length when finished rather than a buzz cut?

I've never had a poodle, but Molly requires a lot of grooming and if I care about her happiness and comfort, it's up to me to ensure she is free of matts. It's no different than making sure she is fed a proper diet, has medical attention when required, has plenty of exercise, is socialized and ensure she is in a safe environment - you can't pick one or two things and ignore the other obligations.

x10. My boss's Australian labradoodle is taken to the groomers weekly. I don't want to know how much she spends every month on it. She could probably get away with it a lot less often, but she's one of those people who have a house that looks like it's from a magazine and wants the dog to look nice too.
