Hi All! As some of you know i have a bunch of pics up of my brothers dog woody......But i also am a mother to a 8 months old black lab named Tater.

My boyfriend and i got him from a very good breeder about 6 months ago.

He is being trained as a Duck dog for my boyfriend.

Anyways, i have noticed when we are or my boyfriend is training with him or he is just running around the dog park or the field the back of his legs shake.

Now i know that labs are prone to hip problems and such and i heard that could be a sign of a problem. BUT he has an amazing blood line and both mother And Father have excellent hips as well as the grandfather and so on and so on.

I was just wondering if any of you guys have seen that in any of your dogs or know what causes the shaking of the back of his legs.

Thanks a bunch! :)

It could be excitement, it could be an induvidual quirk, it could be a hip problem...there's no harm in getting him checked out. :) The crazy thing with genetics is that even if both parents are great, it doesn't necessarily mean the pup will turn out the same.

My lab does something similar and I'm going to get her xrayed as soon as I've got that much extra cash handy.

Yeah that is what my BF is thinking excitment......cause it is only when he is running around or when we are training or playing with him......It might not be anything ....its just me being an over worried Mama......My BF says he is going to get him ex rayed eventually too.

Virgo is a cutie pie! How old? ;)

Somewhere around 5, I think? She's a former shelter dog, so it's a total guess. I'm going by mannerisms and body build though. She's been "free" for 2 years and she used to be a lot lankier and puppish in general, now she's got her big-girl looks. ;)

I haven't noticed Allie's legs shaking when she runs. So I'm going to go with Zoom on this one. But you know about that Lab excitement....it tends to bleed over to ALL of their body parts LOL.

Awwww......Thats awesome! Always puts a smile on my face when i here that! Tater is still at his awkward teenager state he is starting to look like an adult in some aspects but not completely (hes still only 8 months old)_.....i look at him somtimes and just laugh cause his head still hasnt caught up with the rest of his body yet....Hes got time though! :)

Allie just turned 1 last month....so that leaves another year until she grows out of the puppy stage LOL. I've noticed that her features have gotten more refined, but she is still an awkward teenager in movement and excitement level.
She's still got the destructive tail/butt wag going on ;)

Same here Zoom. I don't know if she'll be my only Lab ever, but most likely. It's just hard to find a good breeder around here, and I think I got lucky, Allie doesn't have any of the crazy lab behaviors or health problems so far. They are just too common around here.
