Okay - so I finally got Boba yesterday night and I haven't had much sleep at all. I know this is common and am willing to do this every day/night if I have to.
After the car ride home, we stayed outside for awhile to see if he would go potty. He didn't. Instead he just sat there and looked at me. (by the way he hates his collar/leash - but hoping he would get used to it later on?)
But right when he entered the home, he sniffed, happily greeted the other roommates, and went on the floor not once, not twice, but three times!! I was already expecting a few accidents to happen so to me it wasn't a suprise.
As the night went on, he was exploring. I had to watch him on his every move - LIKE A HAWK! But he didn't cause too much trouble at all. I fed him dinner, he watched tv with us, tried to jump at the person inside the TV, and barked a few times. I took him out every hour on the hour to see if he would go potty, took him out after he ate, took him out after I played with him, took him out before he went to bed then he finally went! I put him in his crate after that he slept like a baby. He actually LOVES his crate! I woke up at 3 to take him outside, but he didn't go. Went back to sleep, took him out again at 6 in the morning and finally he went. So he held it for about 6 hours! Is that normal for a 3 month old puppy?
Here are my concerns: I heard that puppies need to go to the bathroom a lot. But he only went twice in an 11 hour period?
He absolutely hates his collar and leash - will he get used to it? He always tugs and pushes and bites, I keep telling him "NO" but he'll sit there for awhile then repeat. I finally had to take him off the leash and he seems to be doing fine staying by my side and not going all over the place.
He's up to date with all his shots so can I take him to a dog park? dog beach? places with other pets already?
Being that he's mostly with white coat, he gets dirty really easily. I was planning on giving him a bath today, but heard that I shouldn't give puppies baths often?
I was very surprised of how well Boba adapted to his new home. He was happy, playful, and enjoying our company. I am so lucky.
Thanks so much for your thoughts!
