Ok, i'm not sure if this is normal when a puppy is teething.. But i've had her for about a week now, and since day one her breath has always smelled strongly of blood.. I did a search on puppy breath on this forum, and i know it is common to be stinky, but no one ever specified what it actually smelled like lol.

The gums look healthy.. and i don't see any aCtual blood in her mouth.. but i still am finding it very odd because the odor is so strong :( and it ALWAYS has the same odor.. whether shes been sleeping all night not chewing on anything, or after she eats..

She is a 4 month old pit/shar pei mix.

Hope someone can help.
thanks for reading.

That's odd. I don't know that I've ever heard of that.

I mean I guess it's kind of logical. Her teeth are growing so there may be slight bleeding some where as the gums get moved about, I've just never had a dog's breath smell outright like blood.

I always said "puppy breath" smells like blood to me and no one has ever agreed with me.

:) It is soo exciting to not be alone anymore after all these years.

Lol, it's called pareidolia/matrixing. :) (sorry, I'm into paranormal research and this happens all the time, not that this is paranormal or anything)

Your brain doesn't know what the smell is exactly, so it connects it to the most familiar scent it can. In your case, your brain thinks puppy breath smells most like blood. :)

My brain seems to think puppy breath smells like wet mud. Lol.

In other words, I wouldn't worry about it too much unless she is vomiting blood or something like that.
