Hi,

I am hoping that it is nothing more than a bit of a cold but my 7 week old Border Terrier puppy has sneezed a few times since I got her 3 days ago, she has probably done it no more than 5 times in that period but I want some reassurance that she is ok and I am being a paranoid first puppy owner! She is off to the vets next week for her first injections and a general is it something that I should bring up then? She is eating and drinking fine and is as sprightly as anything!

Thanks in advance!

Breeder

I got her from a local breeder recommended to me by a friend. I don't know whether it is different in the US, but puppies in the UK have shots at 8 and 12 weeks. Although the kennel club generalizes that puppies should not leave the dam until 8 weeks, my vet, and the breeder, recommends 6/7 weeks as by this time they have learned all they can from their mum and benefit more from starting their life with their human families.

I do however take your point on board, she hasn't sneezed today so I am crossing my fingers!

Thanks for your reply!

I'm from the UK too and my puppies stayed with me till they were 12 weeks old and had had all their jabs done, before I gave them to their new owners, pups should still be with mother at 7 weeks the eariest to leave is normally 8 weeks, on the subject of the sneezing it could be the change of environment thats causing it, but as you are going to the vets anyways make sure you tell the vet before he gives the injection,
