QUOTE
"Hello All,
I have recently become aware of a long time puppy miller that is now going out of business. (her own choice, she is not being shut down). She is one of the biggest millers breeding IGs. There will be approx. 500 dogs of many breeds but included are 49 IGs (35 females- 12 with puppies, and 14 males) at this auction.
I understand many rescues do not purchase dogs from auctions, however, I am pleading on behalf of these dogs for some help, weather through rescues or private individuals. We believe all of these dogs will be selling at auction for between $25-50.00 each. We are hoping to keep these poor dogs out of the hands of the scum bag & Amish millers (the worst of the worst). Since they will be selling so cheaply we feel these bottom dollar millers will be there to buy as many as they can.
Please join with me to keep this from happening.
There are IG's from puppies to 10 yrs old. All of these dogs will have nothing more than a life of misery ahead if we don't rescue them before they fall into the millers hands again.
The owner/seller is Martha Reed, ReedsGate Kennells in Missouri. My heart dog Blue came from there almost 10 yrs ago. All info. can be found at www.onlinepetauction.com Click on , "Sat. Feb. 17 auction, Reed Gate Kennells", this page will give breeds and numbers but if you scroll way down it will give all the info on each dog, age, color, etc. All dogs will have brucelouiss, rabies & health cert.
If anyone is willing to donate to pull a dog from this auction or if anyone can foster a dog or two please let me know ASAP. This auction is next Sat. Feb. 17th. We need to make arrangements NOW. Transport can be arranged for dogs to go just about anywhere if someone is willing to foster.
I'm sorry if this is not appropriate for any lists or individuals this has been sent to in error. Please accept my apologies and please please everyone cross post far and wide !!!!"

Here is her email address: [email protected]
Her name is Joy.

This just broke my heart

God in heaven. I knew, in theory, that millers treat dogs like farmers treat pigs or cattle, but seeing it so baldly stated on that website is stomach-turning. Sad as the fate of those dogs is likely to be, I can't believe it's moral to give money to anyone involved in a puppy mill or auction. It's just perpetuating a system that hurts dogs. ****, that's a disturbing website.

I have to agree, buying these dogs will do nothing but encourage others to have "going out of buisness" sales.

Who knows if these people are truly going out of buisness? It might be some ploy.

Believe it or not, puppy millers could care less who get their dogs. If a rescue saves the dogs because they are so sad looking, guess what? The dogs are still sold and the puppy miller still gets his/her $. That's all they care about.

I wish these dogs the best but I personally would NEVER ever ever BUY a dog from a puppy miller, even if he/she is "going out of buisness". I feel horrible for the dogs, but buying them is only encouraging the puppy millers to produce more dogs..

i wish i lived close enough. id buy as many as possible just to save them from more years of suffering...
yes handing millers money is bad, but id rather spend 150 and save 3 dogs from the fate of being bred for profit than sit back and know that some miller bought 3 dogs and is using them to make MORE money

Oh, Good God...and her vet gives his seal of approval?? :(

There are dogs that are 10 years old on there! That's just...heartbreaking! What are they going to do with the dogs that aren't sold?

Dogs were the very first animal to partner with humans, probably over 12,000 years ago.

Dogs guard our homes.
Dogs nanny our children.
Dogs pull our carts.
Dogs guard our livestock.
Dogs herd our livestock.
Dogs retrieve our game.
Dogs help us chase our game.
Dogs help us find our game.
Dogs help us lure our game.
Dogs help us hear when we cannot.
Dogs help us see when we cannot.
Dogs help us diagnose disease before any doctor can.
Dogs help us know when we are about to have seizures.
Dogs help us have hands when ours do not function.
Dogs help us fight in war.
Dogs help us in scientific research.
Dogs help us explore space.
Dogs help us explore new lands.
Dogs help us feel loved when no person will.
Dogs help us rid our homes of vermin.
Dogs help us kill animals dangerous to our livestock.
Dogs help us keep from being lonely.
Dogs help us feel like we have children when we do not.
Dogs help us find the lost, the injured, and recover the dead.
Dogs help us search for drugs.
Dogs help us search for explosives.
Dogs help us police our towns and cities.
Dogs help us compete in sports.
Dogs help us look and feel better about ourselves.
Dogs help us win contests.
Dogs help us earn money.
Dogs help us perform and entertain.

Dogs do not care if we are disabled or deformed.
Dogs do not care what color we are.
Dogs do not care about our religion.
Dogs do not care about what we wear.
Dogs do not care about our sexual orientation.
Dogs do not care about our politics.
Dogs do not care about our nationality.
Dogs do not care about our ethnic origin.

Dogs have rescued, with no thought to their own safety or mortality, more human lives than any other animal. In recognition of this, many countries have instituted civic and military awards for dogs, have erected monuments in their memory.

No animal deserves to be treated badly, however I believe dogs deserve a special consideration for all they have done and continue to do for us.

Mills are not how we should repay their millennia of service.

:( If I was in the country and could afford it, I'd buy a whole kennel package, spay & neuter the lot...get them healthy and find the animals good homes (then keep the kennel going as a rescue/shelter).

Geez...that site just makes me sick. :(

Cass.
