What's going on with Leo? On Thursday night, he was boarded for just one night at a local boarding place. When I picked him up on Friday, he threw up in his crate on the way home. It's not entirely uncommon for him to throw up every 6-8 weeks, so I didn't worry about it. We didn't feed him that evening. Saturday morning, we fed him, but he ate nothing. Saturday evening, Sunday morning, Sunday evening, much the same - he ate very, very little. Today, still not eating! He's had a piece or two of kibble, but that's it. He's acting totally, 100% normal. We walked today, he had a great time. He's playing with his toys and even drinking water like normal. He has pooped a few times (due to the little that he has eaten), and hasn't been straining much at it, so I don't think he has an intestinal blockage at all. He pees a million times a day (he's only 8 months old), and that's been normal.

What's the deal? Is he on a hunger strike for something? What should I do? I'm thinking if he's still doing this on Wednesday, he gets a trip to the vet (when they open again after the new year), but seriously, he is acting just fine. Maybe he just was fed way too much at the boarding kennel that one day, and he's still getting over that? The small poops he has had have been solid and normal looking.

Any ideas?

Is this his first time boarding? He might be thrown off by his change in routine just enough to cause him to go off his food. Stick to a normal schedual, keep offering food like normal and just watch him. As long as he's drinking and eliminating, he should be ok. But having that vet appointment (or even just calling) isn't a bad idea either.

Did they feed him his normal food at the kennel or something else? Yeah if he does not eat pretty soon he should go to the vet just to be safe.

It was his second overnight stay, but he was there a good portion of the day before and the day after his night there, and last time he hadn't stayed that long. I do give them his normal food (Canidae) when I take him there, but since it's Christmas week and all, they have a billion and one dogs there, so I personally highly doubt they are so organized that they can keep all that straight, including meal times and all. This is a boarding place where the dogs are only kenneled at night - in the daytime, they are just in a huge open warehouse running around and playing together (big dogs and little dogs separated by a fence, of course). They get very tired in there, because I'm certain none of the dogs could possibly nap in that sort of environment! Anyway, we'll just keep feeding him like normal, and seeing what he does, I guess. I'll keep watching the drinking and peeing - it's easy to see when he's peed, because a nice mellow yellow spot appears in the snow!

Thanks for the advice and encouragement.

If that place is worth their salt they should be able to keep the foods and feeding time straight. The place I worked at was able to do just that and at times we would have almost 200 dogs and they all got fed what the owners requested. Most of the dogs were on the "house kibble", but a good portion of them usually brought their own as well. They all had induvidual labeled storage cubbies or clearly marked personal containers for their personal food.
