Ok I am soo new at being a dog owner it is sometimes scary-I am wondering what is the best way to wean Angus off of the bottle and onto dry puppy food. I have started him lapping a mixture of goats milk and rice cereal and that is working great, I have also been introducing a few pieces of the dry kibble but I make sure it is softened first. How long should it take to wean him completely over to the dry food?? I just don't want to rush him or give him a bad case of diarrhea. Any suggestions on what I should do differently? All suggestions are welcome.

Angus is a 1 month old Australian Shepherd, that my husband rescued when he was thrown out of a car window. I have been talking with my veterinarian and she said to start him on puppy food as soon as possible since I am bottle raising him. I just don't want to do anything wrong.:(

Most mother dogs will start to wean their puppies around 4-6 weeks of age. I would start out with a quality kibble mixed with some water/formula to soften it. The pup should be happy to dig right in, careful though, they are awful messy with the puppy food!
