Personally, I think that shy dogs need their confidence built. I don't know exactly what you mean by 'pushing' them but it sort of reminds me of teaching a kid to swim by shoving him in the deep end.

I think dogs, like kids, need to be show love, respect and kind discipline.

And you can't make a child or a dog into something they are not.

Did you know there are studies that show that there are no such thing as 'shy' children? It is only after they are told they are shy that they become shy. I wonder if it's the same for dogs?

Ok, I agree with you there. I didn't mean that in that way. I simply meant that you can't ignore the fact that they act shy. And that you can't be too soft on them. They are approached differently, but not flooded.
