HI

recently we got our yorkie's hair cut for the hot summer coming up. Ever since he got his hair cut he has been itching, bitting, chewing, (I am not sure what to call it) his rear upper leg.

Was he not groomed properly? Is this normal/. My Yorkie is about a year and a half old and we have never had him groomed like this before. Ussually we just had him trimmed up and his hair was long. Now his hair is short but he seems to be irritated or something.

any advice or suggestions would be great.

thanks

Have you inspected the itchy area closely? Notice any redness or anything out of the ordirinaryin that area?

When I get my shih tzu cut she gets itchy too....I found it was the scented powder they put on her, so I asked them to not use it anymore and it stopped.

Maybe if you can take your dog back to the groomer and have them blow the dog out. Sometimes loose hairs from shaving can stay in the coat and make for a very itchy dog.

He may not be used to breeze hitting his skin, or like Tineweena said, he may not like the cologne or the shampoo. Next time ask that they use an oatmeal shampoo or hypoallergenic shampoo. Or there may be shampoo residue still left on his skin from not rinsing your baby off all the way.
