Puppy Breath

I never found out what this was when I worked for the vet, and I dont know why I never asked, but does anyone know what causes "puppy breath"?

Ooooh me too! I could breathe in the smell of puppies for days. It is just intoxicating. Especially when you stick your nose in the back of their neck, just near where their jawbone connects to their skull (yes, what a romantic description!!).

Ruby had the BEST puppy smell in the whole world - everyone used to comment on it, and when it went away and we got Chester, we almost cried to have that smell back again!!! LOVE IT!!

i always thought that its bc they eat their poop?? lol thats what someone told me a long time ago and ever since i cant get that image out of my head... i love when people come to see the puppies at the shelter and say "ooooh puppy breath!!" and i just think "thats bc they eat their poop!!" SICK! haha

I don't know what causes it. But It's one of my favorite parts of puppyhood!

lol Puppies DONT eat their own poop.. thats what their mother does. Its instinctual.. another reason why when they are older, some eat poop.

I heard that its instinctual back when they were feral. it was to cover their tracks from prey...

No clue what causes puppy breathe though.. I miss it lol Riots is gone now.. he just smells like Innova now lol omg.. especially when he runs in to see me after eating and burps lol
