Please don't get a puggle from a petstore or a breeder. Beagles and pugs can both have health issues, and if you get them from a bad breeder your dog is likely to have them all... They are *not* a breed, and you would end up paying $500 or more for a mutt, that you could find in a shelter or rescue for $100 or less.

If you want a dog that's not a lot of work, a puppy might not be the way to go. That goes doubly for a puppy bought from a pet store. No matter how many people who wander by the "display", they haven't been socialized properly. And you have to wonder what kind of "breeder" would use the services of a pet store? I mean, pet stores don't do a whole lot in the way of checks on their customers, the sale is what counts. So what does that say about the "breeder" that they're willing to hand their puppies off to these places?

Oh, sorry, slipped into a rant there.

Anyway, research some breeds then head out to your local shelter. You might come across a young dog there that will suit your needs better. Our shelter allows you to take dogs out into the run, gives an idea of their energy level at least.

Any puppy with beagle in it will be a lot of work. Not really any way around it. Pups in general are a lot of work.

if you dont want work an older dog may be just perfect! I found a stray we call Shaffer and my mom adopted him when we found his owner had passed away. He was about a year old. He was completely house broken..had the manners of a gentleman and fit in her home with her like a glove. I know many of the rescue groups are great about matching up dog and owner. THey are great about telling you all about your dog as well for they want a successful home. I think it is the best route to go.
i know better to look but did anyway. I cant have another dog at this time but if i could i would be on my way for this one

Every dog is alot of work. There is no such thing as an easy dog.

EXACTLY If you don't want to work for your pet then get a cat. I am sorry if this is rude but this is the second thread you have made about not wanting to do the work with a puppy. this tells me you really shouldn't have a puppy or a dog for that matter. ALL dogs take work. Get a cat who will come to you when he or she is ready for affection and can go on his or her own in their litter box. All you have to do is feed it and water it and clean the litter box

The dog I'm thinking of is an Irish Wolfhound.. they are huge and require a lot of excercise, but they are usually a laid-back, calm kind of dog.

Dont get a puggle. There are enough unwanted cross breeds as it is (and pure breds) to purposly create a cross breed between two totally different breeds.

I agree with getting a rescued pup.

Take it from an owner of a purebred Beagle. He is alot of work, but I wouldn't trade him for the world. Tons of unconditional love to give, and he is such a lovely cuddle buddy in the evenings. :D
