plz guide someone what special care should i do for my pregnant dog
Diet - During the first 30 days of pregnancy she can eat her normal diet, as long as it is a high quality food. During the last month of pregnancy start switching her over to a high quality puppy food, make the diet change over a weeks time. Do not give vitamin supplements, a high quality food has plenty of nutrients. Also, be aware that some vitamin supplements may cause birth defects so check with your veterinarian before choosing to supplement.

Exercise - Take her on daily walks. It is important that she does not become overweight during this time and the walks will keep her in shape for delivery. Letting the dog run in the backyard is not equal to a walk, a walk is mental and physical exercise. During the last 3 weeks of gestation do not take her out and do not expose her to other dogs as added protection against disease.

Don't take advice from "Mainstream" babbling idiots. Seek the advice of a vet instead.

Listen to Sis, not some "Mainstream" troll that gets his info from wiki and yahoo answers and by Googling things.

Coz we all know those sources are just gleaming with intelligence and accuracy!

I would highly suggest the mods meet and have a discussion about how to quickly dispatch of trolls. They are annoying and coming more and more. Unlike spammers, they actually get replies wasted on them.

if it's all so annoying and a waste of peoples time WHY RESPOND? You are only reinforcing the attention seeking behaviour.

Either don't respond at all or give some advice in case someone who isn't a troll is reading it and needs the advice :)

I would call the vet first and foremost and then go from there

I agree with Sis, if your asking a Question like that on a public forum your not knowledgable enough to be breeding.
You never know, this person may or may not have been to a vet already, or may have an appointment in the near future. What is the harm with asking more than one source for tips?

Humans are far from perfect and unfortunately mistakes are inevitable...not that I agree with unexpected litters, but it does happen.

To the OP, have you ever had any experience with litters? How'd you come by getting a pregnant dog? Maybe if you gave us a little more info, we could help you more. :)

But how do newbies know what's a troll and what isn't? If they are coming here for advice, how will they know if it's good or not? We would, but newbies or lurkers may not.

well that's up to the person reading it to decide of course. the only thing you can do is post GOOD advice and hope someone who needs it comes upon it. You don't to be a troll to give bad advice... there are LOTS of differences of opinions and not everyone is going to agree troll or long standing members. but there are lots of people on here who can post a lot of good advice but instead the focus has been about trolls and that's not going to help anyone that may come looking. all they are going to see is how they think this community treats newbies and with this thread that's not a good impression.

So if it's a troll... don't respond or leave what you believe is good sound advice otherwise it's just feeding and reinforcing the bad behaviour you want stopped.

I wish I had better advice to offer than "talk to your vet" but I really don't know enough about this kind of stuff to offer much else. but the vet is a good place to start.

I actually request then that the mods meet to decide what to do about the people who are feeding the "trolls" as a game... I'm not talking about giving genuine polite responses to them, I'm talking about the people who are insulting and bait them and/or argue with them. One of the Chazhound rules is to be respectful to other members and I don't think many of the responses being given to the so-called trolls are respectful...
One or the other - either the trolls or the members who are feeding the bad behaviour - has got to give, or the bolded part is just going to continue. And I totally agree that it does NOT give a good impression.

I agree! It would also help to know the breed of dog as some breeds have particular challenges when giving birth!

^This! I am going to add that something be done with BOTH. Known "trolls" (not talking about anybody in this thread in particular) and the members who feed the "trolls". Especially those members who are constantly feeding them...it gets old very, very fast.

I agree with the more details, breed, how you got a pregnant dog, age of dog, etc..

I don't think people should be expected to not feed some of these trolls with the terrible amounts of misinformation going out. I worry more about that because who knows what kinds of things lurkers and newbies will think because of that.

Anyways, hopefully something is done.
