We've had Buddy for almost a week now and he seems to be doing really good. Usually once he wakes up from a sleep we take him outside right away and he'll pee we tell him good dog and give him a treat. Same goes for when he eats once he's done we take him outside and he goes outside.

Over the past few days while we've been in the living room and Buddy in the kitchen he crys by the door. We let him out and he does his thing outside! I dont know if this is luck or what but he seems to be getting it.

Are we doing the correct thing by taking him outside right after a sleep and meal? Also could anyone give some more tips how to house train.

Yes, you're doing it correctly. Usually to train a dog you take them out after they nap, after they eat, after they drink, and especially if like yours they are crying by the door to go out to pee (he's a fast learner).

As Buddy gets older, he will begin to hold his pee longer and won't go as much. So far I'd say you're doing great and Buddy is doing great too!

Just about 10 minutes ago Buddy was crying and jumping on the back door (the door we always let him go out) and when he went out he went to the place he's been doing #2 and went!

I think we've almost got him trained.
