My 6mo bernese pup is far from being potty trained. It is EXTREMELY frustrating. I have read enough here and in books to know what needs to be done but I have a new problem that I haven't come across.
He will not do his business on walks. He will go outside in the yard or in the house (grrr) but never on walks. He had to stay at the babysitter's house for the first time last week and she had a terible time with it as she does not have a yard. He doesn't even mark trees, bushes or anything on walks. Not a drop of pee or other if he is on a leash.
I thought about leashing him even in the yard, ie taking walks in the yard but I know I will spend hours outside as he will refuse to go.
I'm trying verbal commands but I don't think he gets it. I give a high pitched "pee pee" and "good boy" everytime he pees outside and I try to race him out on the leash after eating to say "pee pee" on the leash but he pees before I can get him out the door.
