remember those abandoned puppies i told yall about.

well heres the 3 boys of which my friend is trying to talk me into taking one of as a "foster" (cause she knows if one comes home, unless the cresties HATE him, hed end up staying)

theres 4 potential special needs pups, of those 3 males 1 female, we will know whats going on in terms of vision/hearing by the 1st (they are now about 5 weeks old according to the vet)
the vet has already applied for the potentially "special needs" girl, hes had experience with large breeds and his son is also deaf and they have a sweet older boy (who loves female dogs) in the home who will be able to "teach" her the stuff they cant.
shes going to have a private beach to play on as well as 1/2 acre!

the 2 other puppies, 2 black/mismarked mantles have also been "claimed", they will be living with a couple about 2 hours away, they lost their female dane in fall of last year and then her brother (same litter) at xmas time.
while its not usually suggested to do the whole 2 pups at a time deal, they are both dog trainers, the husband also runs a nice little wine shop (dog friendly) and the wife has a small gift basket shop, and they have littermate experience, the male will be going to work with mommy, the female with daddy...
there also getting themselves 3 acres of pastures and a pond in the deal with a perminent agility course!

that leaves these 3 "little" boys

this little guy if her friends favorite and probably going to be going home with her...he seems to react to SOME sounds but right now its unsure whether hes reacting to the actual sound or the feeling (he jumped when a pot hit the ground, but no when she banged the together...he doesnt notice the vacume untill it gets close, ect.
hes aparently a real mischeif maker though...
he could have some vision loss in one eye also.

(one of my faves)
this guy is heavier marked, so could be ok, but like his brother he doesnt seem all that responsive to sounds untill they get close., hes also the smallest of the boys.

and this is the guy that would probably NEED me most.
unlike his brothers this boy seems completly unaware of sounds around him, he does respond to vibrations on the floor, but beyond that hes either oblivious or realy doesnt care...
he also seems like he could have some vision loss in one side (he responds when someone comes form that side but its as if he doesnt see as clearly) and both eyes are aparently smaller than normal.
she tried to get a head shot but he wasnt co-operating.
aparently this boy is also the biggest of the group and the biggest smush too.
he prefers to play with her chihuahua mix and snuggles with the mamma cat and her 3 kittens who wandered in a couple weeks back, and he loves to snuggle.

now that all being said...
i realy dont NEED another dog.
My boyfriend would KILL me...(even if he was just temporary)
and i havent run any of it seriously past the room-mates (who i know would have less of an issue than my bf lol)

i do however have the time for a 3rd,
we will have a secure back yard
will be living only feet from a state park
and theres a dog park only 10 mins from the new house...

and since ive spent the last 7 months unsucessfully looking for a job ive decided to open my own dog walking/pet sitting buisness as well as trying to sell some ribbon roses via etsy, that im just going to work form home untill something comes my way.
and that something will be in the dog care feild with any luck (or dog friendly at least)

to top it all off, if they are "special needs" while know there are angels in the world that would offer these guys good homes, there few and far between, and the risk of return on special needs GIANT breeds is high...
i have the experience...
i have the knowledge...

she sends me pics becuase she KNOWS i adore danes and cant resist a puppy, combining dane, puppy and Special needs all in one is like shoving chocolate in my face...NOT FAIR!
she also knows that while he would be comming as a foster, as long as the cresties dont mind his presence...(barring any unforseeable issues) he would very likely end up staying.
SOMEONE talk me out of it before my bf kills me...

Sorry, I'm not going to try to talk you out of it. I'm going to tell you that if you and BF are not on the same page now about pets (foster or not), then you need to rethink the relationship or work on getting on the same page. Take it from someone who's been married to someone that is NOT at all on the same page (wavelength) about how many pets one needs, and where those pets should live (inside or out). IF you have the time and energy to take one of these special puppies, DO IT> they deserve you. Wish I could.

oh he knows...if it ever comes down to its him or the dogs, the dogs win :p

its more a case of is right now the best time (or in about 3-4 weeks i should say)
if it right to add another
what about the roomates
ect.
im trying to weigh everything out...
and right now the only downside i can see is that the bf would mutter and grumble a little about having ANOTHER dog...
and the roomates being an obsitcle.

the roomates love animals, particulalry BIG mushy dogs (they want a husky, but ive educated them on the amount of excersize husky need and they both work full time and have a kid part time (joint custody with the kids father)

sigh...
still...nones giving me good reasons NOT to bring one home.
(though it will also depend on arranging transport)

Oh my.. they are just gorgeous. Hopefully things work out and you can take one of them in. Stunning Great Dane pups though, they look wonderful. Maybe explain the situation over and over to the boyfriend until he sides on your side of the fence. :D

LOL, well yall are helpfull when it comes to supporting both my good and bad little angles currently telling me to just do it...

not so much helpfull on the talking me out of it lol

great dane: arnt they beautiful, given the situation they came from (for those unaware they were dumped along with their mother (who was dead before they were found) on a frined of mines property, "we" lost a few (ive been e-consulting lol).
they LOOK pure dane but were not entirely sure (its not unusual for them to cross in mastif and am bulldog in the area to get big gamey dogs...)
and were all suprised at how well these guys are doing, they were on the brink of death when found, and the ones that have survived are all little tanks.

miss mutt, the mother was a hervy heavily marked harl/mismarked mantle (it was very hard to tell form the condition the body was in)
unfortunatly in great danes harlequin to harlequin often has the same effect as breeding merle to merle...
(many harl danes have at least one grey splodge somewhere and merles are common from even the best of harl breedings so it is, im sure, related.

unfortunatly we know very little about these puppies gentic background.
the mother was definatly a dane, as i said, she was black and white and either a mismarked mantle, pibald of very very heavily marked harl.
she was found dead on my frined property tied to a tree, literally starved to death (and was coverd in scars evident of dog fighting and abuse)
the father could be any number of breeds, the vet THINKS there pure danes, they have dane heads and are good sized pups, but its also not unusual in her area for byb's to mix danes with other mastifs to get the "biggest" dogs possible, more drive ect

the other pups in the litter were/are mantles/mismarked aside from the 4th almost all white whos a female.

most deaffie danes are just as "healthy" as a hearing dane...
because of the bad breeding these pups may be prone to a few more issues but nothing im not prepared and familiar with.

my biggest concern is bloat, bloat and torsion terrify me so if this does happen a tummy tack when neutered will be happening if he does end up as a perminent resident.

one roomate is absolulty ok with me bringin him home
the bf says hell probbaly loose his mind...(but i think hes just being melodramatic) and i told him if i was brinign home another dog it would be ideally temporary as a foster, what happens in life goes from there.

if this does happen im going into this as a definate FOSTER situation, i have no plans to keep him perminently, if life works out that way then so be it, but yeah.

we'll find out on friday as to hearing/vision issues, and from there we'll try and figure out if finacially, transporting him here is going to be doable for all involved.
but im definatly leaning towards going ahead with this...
