With it being warm now (summer time) should I have to worry about keeping the pups on a heating pad?

ChiBree, puppies cannot control their body temperature for the first 7 days or so of life.

They should be slightly elevated up off the floor, and yes, you should have a warming area available for them.

I use a heat lamp, but many people use a heating pad as well. Just make sure it is well covered and not TOO hot. You should leave a thermometer on top of the pad so you can see it. It should not be hotter than about 100 degrees.

Ok thanks Red. I bought a heat lamp and my husband freaked! Only because an irresponsible friend of his used one for his dogs in his barn and the pups knocked it over and burned the barn down. (no pups were injured) So I returned it and decided to use the heating pad. I just didn't know if I needed it with it being so warm. I'll grab one of our thermometers and put it in with them. I'll cover the pad with a towel and keep it on low.

Did you hear? Her temp went down this morning and has stayed down since my last check at 2:30pm. We think its time!!!........

Hey, I am just checking back. Still no puppies eh? Oh well you will have them soon enough. I won't be on for the rest of the day, so good luck and take care. And if you get pups before I get back then congrats.
