I find them so disgusting! No person should eat a 12 Oz steak by themselves..
We went to olive garden yesterday and when they brought the food... I totally lost my appitite. HUGE plates.. So much food.
This is why we try to stay clear of American restaurants.. I feel horrible that my mother paid 60$ for food for a small family when there was only two of us.

I think I will stick to normal restaurants and fast food. : /

Why don't you just do like I do? Eat half, box up the rest and take it home. Built in second meal. ;)

BLASPHEMY! Gimme the steak. :D

If you're in a restaurant like that again, just ask for a a box to pack the stuff you won't eat in.

Hey, how are you doing with gaining weight? ((hugs))

I can get two, maybe three meals out of one sometimes, it's great! It's actually a good deal that way then as well.

Same here - I could never eat a whole restaurant meal in one sitting. Great leftovers.

Anyway, I'm going to go eat an entire box of mac-n-cheese by myself. *waves*

You kidding? a 12oz steak would be AMAZING....

As others said, eat what you can and take the rest home. Two meals for the price of one :D

LMAO, my stomach disagrees with you, I LOVE steak :rofl1::rofl1:

and you get it here in Holland too, personally I love it because I bring it home and snack throughout the night or save it for lunch in the morning. Just make sure you order something good ;) Personally rather eat a big plate of pasta or something than fast food....

They really ARE way too big.........unless you order off the kids menu, then they are reasonably sized :)

It reminds me of something I did recently at home. I measured out everyone's plate at dinner time to reflect a NORMAL serving size of each dish we were having. You should have seen their faces! "Is this all" "We will STARVE" Of course they all had seconds  But it was a nice experiment!

I used to be able to eat like that, but now my fiance and I can share a meal at most restaurants and both be full. I assume the waiter thinks we're really poor or being cheap, but oh well. :D

What is a 'normal' serving size? How does one define that?

There are set amounts for everything...like when you look on the box or the bag. Most people eat twice as much and then wonder why they gain weight when the calories and stuff are calculated for one "portion"

As defined for a 2000 calorie diet and getting your "squares" in for a day.

4 oz of meat is an appropriate serving. A good rule of thumb for example: A serving of Chicken breast should be around the size of your palm or a bit smaller.

1 cup of fruits/veggies is an appropriate serving.........or if eating a whole fruit a serving would be considered about the size of a tennis ball.

Etc........

For example, a serving size of meat is about 2-3 ounces really. (Cooked though, will be more if you weigh before cooking).

Seriously, leftovers are a great deal. Think about splitting the cost and it's not too bad if you get a couple meals out of it.

I agree......AND, somethings are great the first time around but just NASTY when reheated.

Normally when I bring things home it's for the dogs.......not me :D

And a large apple is actually two servings of fruit. A serving of rice is 1/3 cup. Vegetable 1/2 cup, etc.

So the normal portion size is less than half of what one gets when going to any sort of restaurant? I wouldn't call that 'normal' then. Recommended, sure. But not normal.

:yikes:

I like my idea of portions better, honestly. Eat when hungry, stop when full. :D
