This has happened too often . Animal House ( Denise Flaim ) posted last week about a Golden Retriever pup that had to be PTS because he lost too much tongue to pant, drink water etc .... he was 12 weeks old .

a very high up agility competitor's border collie did this about 4 years ago, lost most of his tongue,,they said it took a very very long time for the dog to figure out how to drink/eat with about a 1/4 of a tongue left..

I always keep my shredder unplugged,,i've seen my dogs lick it, and the cat too!!
