So I really havent made a big deal about this on here before. I have mentioned it a couple times. But im just sick and tired and need to vent.
Maggie has always had a fear of men and little girls. Don't ask me why but any little girl 2-5 years old terrifies Maggie. She literally yelps and flips out trying to run behind me for protection. I mean she goes insane with fear. About the same thing with adult men. Only she with me she won't so much yelp but avoid them at all costs and shake voilently when they come close . She has been this way since we got her from the rescue.
I do take her out and socialize her. Before the neighbors and I had a falling out I would ask their three young daughters to help me help Maggie. So I would do things like have them stand in a line and walk past them. Or have them play with a ball. I had Maggie to the point where yes she was still afraid but she could function normally around little girls in public. And in turn not leave little kids in tears and mothers terrified of her. Though she was still iffy to kids running up to her.
With men I just tried to take her everywhere with me. And since most my friends are guys it did help a bit. But like with the little girls though she would deal with them she still was afraid of them and still shook.
So yesterday I took Maggie for a walk down to the park at the end of my street. There were two little kids and a mom. They kids were a boy and a girl about 5 and 8 maybe. The older one being the little girl. But I figured Maggie had made progress and didn't seem nervous so I thought we would stay. And it was all good. Until at one point Maggie was feeling confident enough to walk alittle ways away from me. The little girl came running up to her waving a stick in the air and making a motion like she was going to hit her! So I yelled "HEY!!!" at the little girl just as Maggie flipped like she used too. Full on screaming yelping and tore off (I literally saw grass fly) for me. And then proceeded to bark. I got out of there quickly. Mind you I didn't pick her up and baby her we just walked away. Poor girl shook the entire way home though.
And yes I get it I should have taken her to a dog park. Problem is the closest one is an hour away .
Anyways as if that wasent bad enough! Today this friend of Jesse's came over. A typical idiot guy. When he came upstairs Maggie was napping by my chair. Out of nowhere thinking he was funny he stomped his feet and barked at her . So Maggie jumps about 10 feet and then springs herself into my chair and out of fear pee's on me. I had had it at that point and flipped on the guy. I doubt he will be back it was that bad.
And so then she spent anouther 20 minutes shaking like a leaf. Im so mad we had made so progress. And in the matter of two days with two stupid people we are set back.
Like I said I just needed to vent.
