Darby is nearly four months old now. In the two months we've had her, her morning stools are always firm enough to pick up and throw into the neighbor's yard. But then they get progressively softer through the day, and by evening she's generally squirting pudding, which of course is almost impossible to pick up at all, let alone toss it into the next yard. I see no mucous or anything like that. Certainly no blood. And she doesn't seem to have any loss of control or any discomfort. It's just mush poop. The next morning it's firm again.
I mentioned this to the vet a couple of weeks ago and she suggested that her activity during the day probably stimulates the bowels and the stuff just moves through faster and doesn't have time to firm up. Maybe, but it still seems like she ought not have borderline diarreha every night. She's got an appointment for her last shot next Friday, so I'll ask for another stool sample check. (She had one once before that turned up nothing.)
So is this daily hard --> mush stool progression unusual? She eats Natural Balance exclusively, and assorted training treats. No real people food except some hot dog here and there, and cheese slices. She has no appetite issues and as I said seems to have no discomfort at all associated with her sloppy stools.
