We have a 10 week old puppy and we are really pleased with how he is doing generally but the housetraining is a bit of a problem at nights. He was really good and doing everything on the newspaper like a good boy but then we had a few days of lots of wee on the newspaper and no poos at all.

Then for the last three nights he has done all of his wees on the newspaper still, but lots of poos on the floor. As we are not there at the time to correct him, we don't really know how to stop the poo from going on the floor and making him do it on the paper again.

During the day we are taking him outside and everything he does goes outside and not inside so it is just the night time that is a problem.

Does anyone have any good ideas for getting the poo back onto the paper??

Any advise would be great
Thanks

I'm not an expert but my only advice would be to try and supervise him as much as possible and say NOO in a low voice if you catch him in action and escort him to a newspaper. Even if that means staying up one night, it will be worth it. Sorry if that wasn't much help

HI

Maybe if you keep him in a more confined area like a crate at night and let him out frequently through the night to do his business on his paper area or outside.. He would not be able to hold it all night as he is too young. Dogs do not like to mess in their bed area.

Anyway hope this helps some. Good luck

This is what I'd do:

First of all, throw away the newspaper and get him a crate (if you don't already have one). You don't want to confuse your puppy by trying to train it so hard to go inside on the paper then suddenly want it to go outside. You don't want them learning anything that they will eventually have to un-learn! Whenever someone isn't supervising him he's in the crate. Take him out to go potty as often as possible, and he should be housetrained sooner then with the paper. :)
