I've decided to get myself two dogs when Jack, Sindra & The puppies get adopted to keep me company since my cat Ringo died in August from cancer.

I need you guys to help me - please don't suggest shelter dogs, considering I foster a dozen of them from there and bringing a couple into my house permanently would dub me the 'women who walks in alone and comes out with 4 dogs'.

Anyway...

Grooming - Not a problem. BRING ON THE FUR!

Food - Not a problem. I got money and I can afford to feed my dogs. o_O

Excersize - I spend mornings outside in my 7 acre yard so the dogs can have fun out there while I supervise them. A jog at noon hour, and then a nice long walk in the evening.

Training - Not a problem. Wanna know why? I raised a catahoula. That's why. I can handle stubborn dogs.

Social Life - I like dogs that like to be around me or with other dogs. The dogs would come to work with me, and would be around me 24/7, because I don't like outdoor dogs. (I DONT want to hear any bicker about this, ni?) They'd have be some-what tolerable of other dogs since I plan on fostering more dogs from the shelter, but I can seperate them no problem.

I was thinking about a Malamute/JRT combo, but have yet to overcome my problems with malamutes since Buck died. (I'd tell you to go look at my other thread, but that chaz coughup yesterday deleted it)

^.^ Thanks all.

I'm really bad at the breed thing but are you planning on getting two at the same time? I really wouldn't recommend that for a bunch of reasons from them getting attached to each other, not you to them attacking each other (I've heard both, the lady at the place i volunteer at said she got her Cavalier pups together and then they started attacking each other a lot so she had to give one back).

but I'm no good with breed suggestions, need help finding a breeder then I'll be here :D

It sounds like you could handle just about any breed that doesn't tend towards dog aggression. I agree with a golden. Or maybe a hound or a setter.

Nope, they're looking at getting two dogs, thought a malamute and a JRT but isn't sure.
I read it the same way you did the first time :)

Hmm, if you want to do all that excercise with your dog (the jog, the long walk and the frolic in the mornings) I'd say stick to working breeds. Mallies and JRT's both fit your description because if you do that much excercsei with a dog you'll need one with stamina.
Considering the jogging you might want a larger type dog as they trot along beside you much easier so maybe a herding breed or a gundog.

Border Collie
Australian Shepherd
German Coolie
Red Setter
German Shorthaired Pointer
German Wire Haired Pointer
English Setter
Old English Sheepdog (love them)
Dalmation
Collie (smooth or rough)
Sibes
Aus. Kelpie
Aus. Cattle Dog (if you enjoyed the catahoula you'll probably love an ACD lol)
Belgian Malinois (but I odn't know a lot baout them)
Tollers (but they have a big tendancey not to get on with cats if you have any in future)
Just saw "basque shepeherds" when I was looking up herding breeds, their pretty cool looking.
English Shepherds - very versatile breed, I've started researching them more since the HOUSE episode lol.

If you don't intend on doing all that excercise with your dog, like only taking them on the walk in the evening maybe other breeds like bloodhounds or boxers or american bulldogs could fit that aswell, but I don't know heaps about them either.

Good luck :D
But I don't think I'd get 2 dogs at the same time either.

Hmm, what I thought was Golden too. They seem to fit what you want in a companion. :)

I wouldn't get two dogs at the same time, just get one and have one after I'm sure I know most of my dog pretty well so I can interpret reactions to the next one. I just think of dogs as pack animals and never thought of two as a 'pack'. o_O

Golden didn't even cross my mind! I'm going to have to start doing some research on some breeds then. ^.^

ETA: I've contacted a malamute breeder, I seem to have progressed well with my little issue with them. She has a litter planned already and am debating whether or not to reserve a pup from her or not.(I used to cry when I saw them and scream because my first dog on my own was a mallie and he was shot 8 times by my neighbour)

I've also called a golden breeder, a german shepherd breeder and two border collie breeder to learn more about the breed.

PLushie - i was just thinking. With your Mallie issue. What if you met puppy Malamutes? Would it be a less stressful, less "intimidating" (not sure if that was the right word) way of easing you back into the breed?
