Don't bring your agressive dog to the dogpark, LEAVE and sit in your car watching from OUTSIDE THE PARK!

What the hell is wrong with people???

This guy brings his crazy ass dog into the park, doens't even set foot inside the gate just lets her in and goes and sits in his car! This dog was like, attacking my dog and biting his face, (Zac my golden) luckily Zac is 100 lbs and he eventually pinned the other dog and barked meanly in her face, saying, leave me alone nutcase!

I felt bad for the dog, she was very rammy like, pent up probably and her person was not even there. If i leave the park without Zac to get something from my car for two seconds he is at the gate doing his come back high pitched bark.
he can't stand it!

I don't understand some people like omg! don't be so irresponsible!!! that dog could hurt someone, or something! especially a little dog or a child!!

Oh yeah and don't let your dog jump on little girls backs and then just say, "oh he loves scaring little girls" and LAUGH! if your dog is out of control keep it on a leash if there are vulnerable people or animals around!

Sorry just had to vent

Wow-if that was my little girl I would have beat his ass! My dogs have almost always been able to take care of themselves, except in a few cases in which I was only too happy to wade in with a baseball bat if I saw blood.

Because, I had one dog roll over in submission to a male once(less than half her size) and get gutted, cost me $100,000 in repairs!

Carry a cell phone. Get the license plate # and then call the cops. This kind of behavior is 'disturbing the peace' and more, the owner needs to get a citation and pay a fine. Really, the only effective way to cope with those sorts of assholes is by getting them in the wallet, where it hurts.

There's a guy that does this at our dog park also. It's really annoying and it scares me. We've tried to get close to the dog so that we can get her license number but she's afraid of people.. go figure!

The dog park is a wonderful thing if everyone would respect eachother and their animals....

Sorry you had a bad experience.

Get the guy's car plate # rather than the dog license #, and call right from the park on your cell phone.

Have you tried talking to the person and asking him to supervise his dog?

At our dog park, a woman kept bringing her terrier mix until it finally dragged a llapso ahpso (sp?) across the lawn by it's ears, tearing them. The police were called, and that was the last we saw of her!

One question, though... do you really think it's smart to bring small children to an off-leash dog park? I understand that owners should have ultimate control, but they are pack animals. My dog is small, but it makes me nervous to see a dozen larger dogs and a poorly attended 4 year old.

I know this thread is aging but I had to reply. So I took Mason to the local dog park for the first time today. It should be known Mason is not at all comfortable with other dogs. We get there and we're heading through the entry way of the park; this dog comes and quickly attacks Mason; scares the bajesus out of him. The man, and his two dogs enter the park and he doesn't even say a thing to me or my girlfriend who were standing right there.

The same thing happened to Toby at the dog park today. Toby was running around with another little dog when out charges this sheepdog. I love sheepdogs, but this one charged straight into toby and T-boned him. Because of the size difference, Toby went flying over the sheepdog. It scared the you-know-what out of him. The lady then comes strolling up and informs me that her neighbour has a Maltese and they love to play. What the..? Yes, play. Not ram!! I told the lady that she should spend a bit more time with her dog so he's more "controllable". She just laughed. Stupid people.

Meanwhile, her dog is still charging at Toby. I got fed up and picked up Toby. There's only so much you can do with some people.

Our parks are divided small dogs and large dogs for ones with small dogs who are uncomfortable around larger breeds. I really doubt if any GOOD park would accept an aggressive dog.

:( I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with your pup. OMG, I totally feel ya! Gonzo was attacked by a Rottie. The roof of his mouth and his neck were torn up, with NO provocation at all, he had his back to her and had not even seen her come in, and after laying on his back and yelping. The owner was luckily inside of the park, but he was obviously too comfortable on his bench to retrieve his hyper-aggressive dog. It's just... disgusting. We've also had 2 Parvo outbreaks at our local park. Forget responsible owners! Gonzo was also attacked at a dog park and recieved lots of punctures from a black Lab when he was about 8 months old. He now depises large black dogs, until he meets them several times and can actually trust them.

I really can't trust some people to have good judgement about their dogs, which is why I've sworn off dog parks. I only go to parks when I'm meeting friends & their dogs... sadly, there isn't a single SCREENED dog park in my area, so I don't know if next time I go to the park some moron will bring in an aggressive dog! On the other hand, it's also waaaay annoying when people who know nothing about dog behavior tell me to remove my "aggressive dog" when he's obviously wrestling with their dog. =P I have to apologize and explain he is very whiney and vocal when he plays, and they usually give me an angry/belittling stare. Oh, how I love people.

Wow, I can't believe somebody would do that! I've never even looked into dog parks since I've heard that some people don't have control over their dog (and I highly doubt mine would enjoy it), but that's just ridiculous. Maybe I'm naïve, but I never thought anybody would ever be stupid enough to just let their out-of-control dog into a dog park and sit in the car. Do they not realize what a threat their dog can be to the people and dogs in the park?

I'm sorry to hear all of the bad experiences in this thread, I really hope somebody gets through to these idiots.

I'd like to note that Mason had a great time after the incident. I was very proud of him and his interactoins. He seemed to be having a great time and we enjoyed that for him. If I had time; I'd take him back tomorrow. He didn't 'play' like the other dogs did but he watched and enjoyed the open space. Cutest thing was when this small white dog; about half Mason's size; came running over and Mason ran away. Seems he's afraid of most dogs at first; but once he realizes their not a threat; he relaxes and will even walk after then when they leave.....of course if they turn around he's shy again.

The dog park is open to everyone; no screening; no small/big separation. It's quite large too; almost 1/4 mile x 1/4 mile. There's a nice stream and small pond to swim in.

We've had an experience or two but we've also learned when the right time to go is. There are lots of responisible pet owners at our dog park and we tend to join them when they go. They're "regulars."

And Buddy really learned socialization there. If y'all remember he came down with parvo after being with us for 2 days and then spent a week in ICU, which meant a month of quarantine at home. So we were already late with socialization as he was a rescue, but we were even later with his parvo. But he has really blossomed at the dog park. It's been a learning experience for all of us.

As sad as it is, though, there will always be those few people that ruin it for others. Buddy LOVES the dog park. I would hate myself if I ever had to take it away from him, but would in a heartbeat if control was ever lost. I myself, have been bitten by a dog (stupid, stupid) at the dog park but Buddy has never been brutally attacked, etc..

Thank God for that!!
