I don't know about PP but I can highly recommend the Nuvaring. I've been on it for two years and haven't had any side effects. I never had huge problems with my period before but now I almost never cramp and my period only lasts about four days. The other bcs didn't work for me, in pill form I would never remember to take it, the patch made me horrifically naseous and itchy, and I've heard many horror stories about depo. On the nuvaring I just set my cell phone calendar to alert me when I need to take it out and then set a new alert to tell me to refill the prescription. It's working pretty well, if she can get into a system with it she might like it. :D
I've been toying with the idea of getting a NuvaRing, can I ask how much it costs you? And how well it stays in place, erm, during activities? The whole idea of putting it in and taking it out dosn't bother me but I'm not sure how DH would react if it came out during things...

I need to check into if the clinic I go to even has them as well.

I just had an appointment with PP today. They only charged me for the screening I went in for (a routine peace of mind thing) and $10 to switch my prescription from what I had been taking to something new, so I got out of there for $60. Trying a monophasic pill, since apparently tri-phasics don't work well for me now.

They have a new form of IUC out now, it's non-hormonal and uses copper as it's contraceptive. The pamphlet didn't say anything about needing to have had a kid first in order to use it either.

I think (from what I've read) the biggest reason they don't want to insert them into some one who has not had a child is due to the possibility of infertility cause be scar tissue forming.

Our insurance mostly covers it so it's about 15 dollars. Without insurance it's 60ish, depending on where you go. I think you can probably get it cheaper at PP though. I completely forget that I have it in most of the time. I've heard that it can come out during "activities" (lol) but I've never had it happen. The only way I could see that happening is if you didn't push it up far enough. You could just try it out for a month and see how you like it. :)

Its safe to take the Nuvaring out during sex if I remember correctly. Most just find it a pain.

I'm 20, don't have insurance, and the NuvaRing cost me.... $0.00.
!?! *sputters* What and how? I wish I'd only paid zero dollars for it for the freaking year I was paying 60 a month.....I'm very jealous lol.

You can take it out, I think it can come out for up to two hours but I don't ever do that cause I would probably forget to put it back in and it just doesn't bother me....perhaps I am the exception. ;) That would be a nice change.

My friend is here reading this with me. She wanted to tell y'all of her other unexpected side effect with Depo: a baby named Myrissa. (of course, her 2nd child was born while she was on Ortho after not wanting to dare try Depo again...........)
