Yeah, what kind? There are ALOT of mastiffs and some mastiff breeds can be considered pitt bulls or do you mean American Pittbull Terriers.

I am somewhat bias but I would pick the Pit Bull purely because of the smaller size and longer life span. Since you didn't name the Mastiff I am talking mostly about a English Mastiff vs Pit Bull comparision. I would pick the Pit Bull in any case.

Most Mastiffs I have met are great dogs though.

I don't really think you can compare the two (or any dogs for that matter), so this is an unfair question.

I adore both dogs mentioned (I'm assuming APBT & English Mastiff too...since you weren't specific) but of the two the Mastiff would be my favourite. I'm a sucker for big drooly dogs and I'm just head over heels for all the mastiff breeds.

I'd choose the pittie. I LOVE big dogs, but pitties have longer lifespans, are able to do more physical activity, and are more energetic.

Naturally I would choose the mastiff, any mastiff...but I don't think this a realistic comparison.

They are in different leagues, too many differences in size, temperaments, and purposes for original breeding.
